I think we are writing at cross purposes. Priority Pass is not synonymous with " lounge access". Their program has a gaping deficiency for USA based flyers because it excludes most AA, DL and CO/UA lounges. Ameriprise provides some lounge access. American Express Platinum provides much better coverage for a small additional fee because of their relationship with AA and DL. I cannot say which is better value for a specific individual's travel pattern, but in terms of sheer coverage American Express has pulled far ahead by adding Priority Pass to the card benefits.

Has anyone else recently received a new priority pass card (In conjunction with the Ameriprise world elite mastercard)? Is it select? I should be getting mine card sometime during this month. Hopefully, it will not be a select card, but it appears that from previous posts it will be.

Mine was Select. I decided to cancel my WE MC because of it... (and since I'm not traveling much...)

They are all Select now; I got mine about a month ago.

We will keep the card through the next year since we are still getting the summer out of it and that is our busiest time for travel. At least I should be able to get a few Ameriprise Rewards before closing it.

Has Ameriprise offered any additional benefits/incentives since the downgrading of Priority Pass to Priority Pass Select? I'm curious how (or if) they plan to respond (especially since An Ex Platinum now includes Priority Pass Select).

In other words, CO/UA is again protecting Chase. If this statement is literally true it would apply to all USA bank issued Priority Pass memberships including some which have explicitly indicated that their memberships will not be downgraded.
I just received the PP card linked to my JPMorgan/Chase issued card. It contains the dreaded "Select", and there are no alternative arrangements for access to UA/CO clubs. I have 3 PP memberships now (JPM, Citi Chairman MC, AX Centurion), it's not clear what will happen to the Citi and AX memberships (although my guess is that since a Citi Chairman AX card received Select, then the MC will downgrade come renewal time). I do wish that PP would allow you to "combine" them in some form to upgrade to the non-Select tier...

Jeez, Chase Bank must have really strong-armed UA/CO and PP with the contracts...

My renewal PriorityPass card associated with my HHonors Surpass Amex arrived. The PPass card has "Select" on it. Heck, why didn't they just make it a big scarlet "S"?

We keep the Hilton Amex because of the Gold status we get for the $20K annual spend, but I agree that this second-tier PriorityPass membership is a major devaluation.

Indeed, the renewal Priority Pass card which arrived yesterday is not marked Select. It will be interesting to see if another arrives in September.

Only cards issued by US financial institutions are being issued the new "Select" cards, as a Brazilian issued card you're still full access.

Question Re: "US Financial Institution" - Does that include, for example, American Express Cards issued by HSBC UK (for example)?

Kind of bummed about losing benefit especially since I consistently fly in/out of Newark, just not enough to justify a full PresPlus membership...

It should not apply to credit cards issued in the UK, even if the same bank has a presence in the USA, but to sure you would need to ask HSBC because it's always possible they will choose to change to Priority Pass Select systemwide for simplicity.
