I just applied for an Ameriprise World Elite MasterCard a couple of weeks ago and was approved. Got my Card last Monday. Today, I received my Priority Pass in the Mail. It is a "Priority Pass Select". It has the large word SELECT along the right side of the card.

When I log into Priority Pass with my Ameriprise World Elite Priority Pass Select Card it does not give the warning that I cannot access United or Continental Lounges effective 01OCT2011. If I am not logged in it does. Does this mean that Ameriprise Priority Pass Select Cards are good at those lounges after 01OCT2011? Just curious.

Sigh, I was afraid this was going to happen.

I think this is overly optimistic. I am sure it is still in a state of flux in terms of getting everything to display correctly.

Probably yes, till your card expires. At that point you will receive a SELECT one.

The Priority Pass I just received is a Select. When I log in with it there is no warning message about the access to UA and CO ending on 01OCT2011.

Well, that answers that. I'm not worried about it as I have a non-US *G card, but I can see how this is quite a devaluation for some people. That being said, the annual fee of $150 with the Ameriprise MC is nowhere near the ~$350 cost (with discounts) of prestige membership in PP, so still not a bad deal.

For what it's worth, Fidelity offers the Amex Platinum Card with a waived first year. You'd get AA, US, and DL lounges plus $200 a year towards day passes, in-flight purchases, etc. You also get a Priority Pass now. The fee is $450 after one year.

The card that you are referring to is issued by AMEX and not by Fidelity. Are you suggesting that Fidelity is having a special offer with first year annual fee waiver on this AMEX Platinum issued by AMEX? If so, please provide the link. Also, please note that you can get the same card directly from AMEX with 50K Membership Rewards points bonus. To most here on FT, 50K AMEX points are more valuable than membership fee waiver (worth $450).

If you fly enough to reach 50,000 miles a year, you get free lounge access on your international flights on most of the alliances.

Hi everyone, first post so please be kind. Ive looked into Ameritrade and amex platinum. The issue is I'm always traveling with different people and the guest pass pricing will add up. I fly mostly United, US Air so I was figuring the United Mileage plus club card would be a good choice. Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Priority Pass is a standard feature of Mastercard World Elite cards, excluding cards tied to an airline program.

The best value is probably the card discussed in this thread:

Actually, they ran a promotion several years ago last december where you wouldn't have to pay any annual fee for the Ameriprise card.

Yes, I got it. And I get a free priority pass every year. Haven't put a dime on it in 2 years.

Yep, got the bad news today. It's a Select card. Goodbye Priority Pass. Goodbye Ameriprise.

mine is still the full membership with the World Elite Ameriprise card. Maybe some people are not getting the WE version and are confusing the lesser cards with the WE?

When did you get your Priority Pass card? It looks like anyone who is getting a new/renewal card from April on is getting Select. I fully expect my renewal card later this month to be Select. I will keep it at least one more year and then decide if I am going to keep it or not. (I am half hoping they will stock some RCC/PC one day passes like they did with Delta, to help stretch it a bit further.)
