For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Hey guy, I'm looking to get in on some US air miles before the merger occurs. As far as I can tell there are two main cards:

-30,000 bonus points after first purchase + 10,000 after balance transfer
-35,000 bonus points after first purchase

I'm assuming these are the same card but with different offers, so you can only sign up for one or the other, correct? Sucks, because I would love to app for both at the same time . If so the 40k offer would still be better due to only a $10 balance transfer fee (paying $10 for 5,000 miles).

What is the breakdown of balance transfer fees for the 40k signup?

Doesn't the fee and bonus miles post on the same ending statement ? So the bonus miles can't be moved to your usairways account until the statement has closed and the fee has already posted. Virtually everyone I have seen has reported that the miles post weeks before the annual fee posts. My case was the same. And even after the annual fee posts, you still have up to 30 days to cancel the card. Just wait at least until after the miles post before you cancel.

$10 or 4% whichever is greater. so....transfer in a super low balance and pay $10 for 5k miles, OR xfer in $250 and earn 250 miles on that PLUS the 5k miles (still a $10 fee here, just using 4%).

Anyway the link for that one (40k) is here, since I can't find it on this thread:

https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/...FOPPF518402804

EDIT: Ahhh, the fee is not waived for this link. That is the catch.

I got the card (my first Barclays card of any kind) in December of last year (don't recall the exact date).

My 10,000 mile annual bonus was posted about 2 weeks ago.
Checking my account online, the annual fee has not posted yet.
My statement closes in the first few days of January.

My plan is to wait until my statement closes, pay off the balance, but not pay the annual fee, close the card when the miles for that statement hot my USAir account, then wait a very short period (a couple weeks?) and re-apply for the 35K offer. Fingers crossed that it remains available for about 3 more weeks (and also hoping that i get instant approval)...

I had this card which I closed recently. How long one should wait to reapply for this card? I also have World Travel MC, which is still active.

Applied [on 2-Dec using fee waived link] and received my US Air card from Barclay's. Now, should I be receiving a welcome pack containing the companion ticket voucher and other goodies; or do these items only come with the fee (not waived 1st year) offer?

I'm a bit confused on the 5k. Is that a bonus for completing a balance transfer? I could theoretically transfer $20, pay the $10 fee, and receive the 5k bonus?

I don't know why they are so inconsistent on this but kudos to those that have gotten the 2nd while your first is still open.
My annual is due up in Feb so I will cancel after my 10k and just cool it for a while since I really want to get the World Arrival which I was denied back in Sept.
Similar story here. My wife got her card Feb 2013 and charged a minimal amount. A couple of weeks ago, I had her apply for a second card. Not only did she get denied, but they did a credit pull from Transunion and said that she already had sufficient credit with Barclays. They needed Transunion to tell them that? Anyway, it seems if you have the card and haven't been using it, they've figured out that you just want another one for the mileage bonus, so they deny you.

In my wife's case, I'll wait until her anniversary comes up, get the 10k mile bonus, cancel the card, and then apply for a new one a couple of weeks later.

Have people reported luck in cancelling the card right after the anniversary bonus posts but before the AF comes up? Or does Barclay's know better than this...

My anniversary is coming up in late January.

I never received my welcome kit until I asked for it.

ETA: We were on vacation at the time and had our mail forwarded so maybe that is why I didn't get it.

If she got denied for 'sufficient credit with Barclays' then she did not get denied for already having a US Air MC. Sufficient credit means they don't want to extend any more credit to you and has nothing to do with the brand of credit card (US Air, Arrival, etc) they have already issued you.

I was denied for this reason back in April, I called recon and told them I wanted to separate spending and asked to split credit from my current card. After answering a few questions (some of them tough, so be prepared) I was able to get a second card. Good luck if you try.

As I had posted a few pages ago.. I was not so lucky, I have been using my card and when I explained why I needed a second card to split the spending for my college son she still firmly denied me a 2nd card.

RE: US MC recently approved

Oh how I wish mine had arrived in the mail today so I could get that one purchase over with and reap those bonus miles!

Sure would have come in handy with the Staples $200 GC promotion ending 12/24 (tomorrow!). My payment due date would probably be around 45 days out so that 15% APR won't catch me!
