For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

Note: All links are expired

Related threads:

Barclays Retention Offers
Forced conversion to Aadvantage Mastercard

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Thanks, smilesbuzz. Cancelled this morning and will apply again soon. Took quite a while on hold as the reps are swamped with cardholders attempting to do just the same because of the data breach at Target, 40 million card info stolen.

My annual fee is also going to post 12/31. Called about a fee waiver but no dice. I may call after it posts to see if I can get it waived then.

I have a question though: I spent the 25k to get the 10k miles converted as well as the award fee waived for the next 12 months. If I cancel the card do I still the the fee waived or do I have to keep the account open to get this benefit? Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer!

Just got an email offer for bonus miles on grocery store spend:

What a rewarding way to start off the year! From January 1 through March 31, 2014, you'll
earn 2 bonus miles for every $1 you spend—up to 2,500 bonus miles—just by using your
US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard for purchases and payments you already make in the following categories¹:
• Grocery store purchases
• Movie theater purchases
• Utility payments

If I activate this offer, what are the chances they will or won't give me the 15,000 bonus for $750/3 months offer?

Anybody have experience with this?

I opened this card (2nd US Airways card - #1 still open) in October. My first card was opened in March and I got the bonus spend for June/July/August. I'm hoping I get 15k bonus email by January using timeline from card #1.

This couldn't be a replacement offer for the 15K bonus, I hope, could it?

ETA: Just realized this offer is targeted to card #1. Haven't received it for card #2. Phew!

Also just got this and registered. I got my card 11/2012. Got the 40k, sock-drawered it, then got the 15k bonus for Feb-Apr 2013 (it took some SMing in June 2013 to get the 15k to actually post). Also, got a bonus for Oct-Dec where it was 5X bonus pts at Gas stations and 2 other categories, but only up to 2,500 bonus pts (similar to this new bonus offer). I bought 1 $500 VR at a gas station in october, but the points haven't posted yet (similar to this new offer, that previous offer stated that the bonus pts would post 6-8 weeks after the promo period ends). I wouldn't be surprised if I have to fight for those miles too.

As for your question about not getting the other 15k bonus, I really can't help. Maybe wait to finish this bonus towards the end of the 3 month period in the hopes of still getting the 15k bonus offer in the interim.

I'm liking this new bonus at grocery stores, because I can probably find a $500 variable load Visa/MC at one of the stores on the seedier side of town. It's also nice because the way it's set up is that it's actually a 6X offer (I think), since I got the 504 pts from the gas station VR and I expect to get 2,500 pts sometime in late Jan/Feb.

I guess I was lucky that my bonus 15K on card #1 posted without any problems. I really hope they don't stop offering that bonus...

Thanks for your input!

I got the 2,500mi Oct/Nov/Dec gas station spend bonus for my first card opened in Feb '13. Completed it in October. (I use this card occasionally for general spend)

Just got the 15k offer for Jan/Feb/Mar earlier this week for my second card opened in Sept '13. Only used it once, then tossed it in the sock drawer.

Awesome! Thanks for the data point. I'll look for the 15K offer next month...

Strike out.. for card # 2 agent told me since I had one already they could not give me another.
Talked a bit about why I needed another and even though I had asked about splitting the credit line on this one she wouldn't budge.
I don't know why they are so inconsistent on this but kudos to those that have gotten the 2nd while your first is still open.
My annual is due up in Feb so I will cancel after my 10k and just cool it for a while since I really want to get the World Arrival which I was denied back in Sept.

I received the same offer, but for 5x bonus miles

So I max out at $500 spend. Don't even need VR for that.

but of course. for reference, my annual fee was coming due and they weren't offering anything. heck they kept telling me the 10k anniversary wasn't part of my offer. but then the 10k hit. and then i closed the acct before the fee posted. and about 2 weeks later i reapplied with instant approval...

Here is my situation, my 1st yr anniversary is on 12/31. Does anyone know when they would normally post the annual fee ? I'm confused on how people are saying they are getting the 10,000 bonus miles in their usairways account before the yearly fee posts on their credit card statement. Doesn't the fee and bonus miles post on the same ending statement ? So the bonus miles can't be moved to your usairways account until the statement has closed and the fee has already posted. You could then ask for a refund and close the account. Am I missing something ?

At least the offer I looked at when I tried to apply for my 2nd card recently (which failed BTW) seemed to say that the $10k was after 12 months but that the first annual fee was after 15 months. If so, that would explain it.

My miles posted around 12/15. Got a statement for $0. Annual fee will hit later this month.

Once the miles post, they can't claw back. No reports of it. Just be happy with Barclays early schedule, and cancel the thing after the miles post.

Yeah, that would explain it. Hopefully that is the way it will work for me
