It's a nice area. I like the drive over the Bay Bridge to the Eastern Shore. She hates doing the driving over that span though.

One of the many things I had to drive as part of Driver's Ed. Maryland was pretty hard-core - the Capitol Beltway, downtown Annapolis, Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

As I'm seeing a lot of  today, here's one of the top alerts on Accuweather.com for this area:

A bit of snow can cause slick surfaces

I imagine 20,000 BD miles (max under the promo) could be had fairly cheaply by way of Baymont, HoJo, Travelodge & Knights Inn. :-:

I'm wondering how they can ever know where and when there will be an earthquake.

The USGS can do this given enough historical data. I saw a video in that Geo class last week about a USGS scientist who found out that the Hagia Sophia kept detailed records of earthquakes going back hundreds of years...the resident imams used to have a hand in this, apparently. Long story short, the USGS looked at the data which dealt with the fault line that runs through most of Turkey. They were than able to make an educated guess as to where the next quake's epicenter would be. Sadly, they were dead on and they forecasted the quake at Izmir. Extrapolating that fault line's data out one more level makes the USGS think that the next quake in that part of the world will be centered only about 10 miles from IST, out in the sea.

Driver's Ed in NoVa consisted of a jaunt through "malfunction junction."

Sure, but will you survive through the night to be able to use the miles?

Just walking onto the hotel's property could prove dangerous.
