Interesting observation on gender differences amongst high school singers...

One of the choirs I conduct is the large (non-auditioned) mixed ensemble, which numbers about 80 total (balance is about 50 women/30 men, which is not all that bad). We generally have one (1.5 hr) rehearsal together per week, in addition to one hour for men and one hour for women separately.

I've found that the girls are more consistent, but when the boys are "on," they're better. Wonder what conclusions one can draw from all this.

The Freakonomics guys could solve that. Give them 20 minutes.

I've always loved how it's officially called "THE Gambia." Kind of like "THE Ohio State University", etc...

As if there's another Gambia that is trying to muscle in on their tourism action.

Indeed. Especially if he came back with some signed deals or some such goodness.

This show is all about the networking, though I did come back with a solid lead on a project and some tight partnerships with some international vendors.

I've asked the same question already.

KNRG had posted that one of his friends was pulling in another $100/wk before they switched it to a points-based compensation system. No other info was given, unfortunately...change in comp. after the switch in systems and hours worked to make that $100 would be nice tidbits to have.

And with the coupon I had for the drill, I spent the savings on the extended warranty so if it breaks they give me a new one for free. :-: It is a great place.

Said extended warranties are were they make their money

We'll be arriving HKG about 2hrs before the big CNY fireworks on Feb 15. Does anyone have any specific advice as to where to go to see them? We're staying at teh C:rolleyes:nrad...

Didn't the edgy use of "X" at the front of the word go out of style after Christina Aguilera became XTina for a while? Bout 2002-ish?

And there was also that horrible attempt by mass media about the same time to put "American" in front of every new TV show. I'm all for a good display of patriotism, but that was just their clueless way of trying to do so when the wave of good societal karma from 9/11 was coming to a close. People started being schmucks again about nine months after.

If you don't make it down there, give the properties a call and explain that you can't make it due to the weather. They may allow you to cancel your reservations or at least move them to a different day.

I'm gonna give that a shot. Unfortunately, I am not a Plat, and I also possibly won't know whether the trip is off until fairly late into Friday afternoon.

I'd be happy to move them to another day (presuming that they would honor the rate paid, which was a very cheap one) - but I don't even know at this point when I'll next be back in DC...

Yeah...and ironically, that would make more sense in some other African countries, like the ones right next door ("THE Guinea" vs. Guinea-Bissau). Or how long until someone tries to copyright "THE Congo"? Very confusing.

The executive lounge of the Conrad has an amazing view of the harbor.

Guinea-Bissau is very clearly in Africa. The Guinea...well...MTV has the monopoly on that right now.

A couple of clicks later, I got myself a code for a free in-flight wireless session. Hopefully I'll be taking a transcon on an equipped plane before it expires on 3/31. ^
