I have seen three famous people on airplanes:

(1) Ahmir (?uestlove) Thompson, drummer for the Roots. I had to e-mail my cousin, whose husband is in the music business, because I don't know anyone else who would have appreciated that.

(2) Paul McCrane (Dr. Romano on "ER"), who told me that he couldn't believe that I recognized him. I didn't have the presence of mind to tell him that he was in my living room every Thursday night for several years, so of course I was going to recognize him.

(3) Mikhail Gorbachev (on LX, ZRH-DME), who was seated next to a pretty 25-ish bottle blonde (clearly traveling with him). She spent the entire flight reading fashion magazines.

I've done that (not at Columbia, but at various locations in New England). What specific competition is this?

What's the deadline for orders? May need to submit some and pay for postage if our source (daughter #2's friend) dries up.

I'm wondering if I should drag my kids into Center City on a Belgian food run (fries and waffles). The weather is decent, so it may be worth doing...

1lb pasta of choice (I'm a bowtie guy for this stuff)
two cans tomato soup
one white onion
3/4 stick butter
5 slices American cheese
Milk

Dice onion and place in frying pan with butter, salt/pepper.
Let butter melt all the way down, pour tomato soup over.
Lay American cheese into pan and fill one soup can halfway with milk, pour.
Low heat, simmer and stir frequently until no butter visible and everything else incorporated.

I grew up with this recipe being called "Polish Macaroni", and icurhere2 said once that "no one in Poland eats that". Fair point, but I don't know what else to call it. My mother used to slice hot dogs into the sauce, and I recently tried it with sweet sausage. It's a nice base that can be played with. Too much milk and it doesn't thicken. Don't use milk and it comes out very thick.

In other news, Obama was firmly planted in DC yesterday and was not in CLE. I know this because the other Presidential 747 was spotted doing touch and go's at ACY.

So I can successfully fly almost 50K miles and not get sick but the moment I get home and we have a crazy weather change. It was in the upper 60s yesterday, I get a terrible head cold!!! UGH!!!
