Yes we do. Box disucssion of mistake fares is directly proportional to abilities of UA's fare entry employees. The more they screw up and give us $1600 C fares to AKL and $240 fares to LHR, the more we talk about mistake fares in here.

Same here. I blame this on the fact that I have not been upgraded since June! :mad: These capacity cuts (I like to think that is the cause) are killing me.

Would it be better to book IAH-LAX-JNB and the return via VS or CO? I'm guessing VS can add the IAH-LAX segments on CO but CO may have trouble.

I don't think either of them would have trouble adding on the IAH-LAX segments. Since you don't have to worry about booking online, you might as well call either one and see if they can do it.

Not nearly often enough. Mistake fares have been caught by CO Insider and pulled in the past, but if you see CO in the MR forum, it's usually an insanely good deal and not necessarily a mistake.

Picture it: Houston, October 2006. A CO employee miskeys a Y fare for MSP-LGW round trip at $400-something and some change. CO Insider and a bunch of CO FT folks are at a dinner and Do in Cleveland arranged by our own MBM3. Others of us are home in Houston wishing we were in Cleveland (probably one of the few times someone was wishing he was in Cleveland). Random CO FT'er discovers said mistake and tells the crowd. It gets posted here. It's 48 hours or so before CO can do anything to correct it. Scores of FT'ers fly to London from the Snow Capital of the Midwest, sometimes just for a few hours, for less than $500. And many, if not most, fly in BusinessFirst for just an additional 10,000 miles each way. It was wonderful.

And CO hasn't done it since. I'm sure the lonely CO employee who typed the wrong number is rotting away in the super secret CO dungeon of terror deep underneath 1600 Smith Street in beautiful Downtown Houston, surviving on a steady diet of Crystal Geyser water, stadium style peanuts, and the occasional bowl of cheese soup.

You should be able to book IAH-LAX-IAH online and hold it using the Western Union option. Then, call CO and have them add the LAX-JNB-LAX flight in the middle.

I agree. Ever since the fall schedule went into action my EUAs have gone through the floor. Though, battlefields are still coming through. Right at the end of August I was getting upgrades on EWR-LAX. :eek:

That was a great fare, too bad I didn't buy more of them and the one i did, I couldn't travel on. (Fortunately it was refundable).

Apparently they now have tools in place that will raise alerts for such changes so we may not be seeing any more of them. It would be nice though.
