I think it was six, but there are some VERY interesting fares ex-LHR on UA.

LHR-SYD $1200 SWUable with two free stopovers in the states and in PER.

Wow. That's insane. Or, by UA standards, it's par for the course.

Any suggestions for how to deal with irrops should they occur?

In addition to ALCO's suggestions...

I assume on US you're flying through PHX. US and UA are in separate terminals there and I'm not sure there are any airside connections, so I hope you're not connecting US to UA in PHX. I'm told short connections US to US in PHX are doable (never had to do it myself).

If you have a PC membership it will get you into UA RCCs where they exist and the US clubs in PHX, where I would go if you run into trouble. IME UA is pretty good about handling IRROPS, but US, not so much. I'd try to stay off the phone with both US and UA unless you want to brush up on your Hindi or Tagalog.

Later, Box, I'm heading out, talk to you from the PC at FLL.

Over the past few minutes I have been working hard, pushing the boundaries of creative thought, traveling extensively between the toilet and my office, pouring my heart and soul into a special tribute documentary to the Box.

I humbly believe this is a fitting tribute to our special corner of the internet. One that has spawned much travel, even more beer consumption, shrubbery extractions, and even the occasional adoption of armadillos in Mendoza, Argentina (in the name of discounted Coors Light).

The Box has become an integral part of all our lives and has changed the way we view media. It has given a voice to the  and has been an agent of more.

It is with great pride that I unveil to you, my distinguished box brethern, my tribute documentary to our little corner of the world wide .

VIVA LA BOX. VIVA LA PWP. P:rolleyes:STY POST POST. :-:

I vote that sbm12 puts together an afternoon workshop on how to use ITA for mwg and myself. We will ply him with beer, wine, food, whatever he wants .....:D^:D^

GREAT IDEA! I would be in in a heartbeat. Seriously, sbm12, how do you feel about home-cooked food and high-quality spirits? :)

In fact, I suck at pretty much everything to do with finding cheap trips. I have to rely on teh box to feed me info  :(:(:(

Don't feel bad. I like to think of it as "I know the most efficient/effective places to pick up information." ;)

Not sure which one that was but the one we went to smelled of smoke because of the smoking room in the back.:td:

Looks tempting but I think I'm pushing my luck trying to squeeze this in on the first weekend of March anyways so extending it to SYD/PER would be a recipe for disaster here at home.

The $660 fare is decent. Getting a FD out of it would make it a slam dunk. But I just cannot make that work. Very frustrating. I may have to pass if the FD doesn't materialize.

Do you really need to ask?? :p

I'm happy to share the bits of knowledge I have. I rarely discover the crazy fares but I'm generally pretty good about figuring out how to use them. UA makes it easy, especially with ITA, as their routing rules are simply ridiculous. Other carriers are a bit harder.
