Just saw on Nightly Business Report on PBS that Smisek says he won't take a salary until CO makes a profit.

It is not a stupid question, comrade. It is an opportunity to speak of the glories of the Post Whore Party.

Sorry, still working my way through it :D |
My first flights of the year, this past Saturday, ended up being rather . That was to be expected, flying US, but this was even more so. We were originally scheduled on US flying DCA-CLT-ATL, on an E70 and 319. When we arrived at DCA, the kiosks wouldn't print a boarding pass, and we were told our CLT-ATL flight had been canceled. This was a good five hours before that flight was scheduled to depart. Unfortunately the later CLT-ATL flight was full, so they couldn't put us on it. 15 minutes later and the agent produced new boarding passes for a new routing via PHL. This meant the first segment was on an Air Wisconsin CRJ. Granted this was a new airline for me, as well as a new route, but there as no excitement, given that we were flying that POS up to Philly from DCA. We boarded, took off, and had a mercifully quick flight up to PHL, which ended with the worst landing I think I've ever experienced, including multiple bounces after slamming one wheel into the runway and then bouncing off the other side.
The only redeeming factor about the experience was the agent at DCA booked us into F for the PHL-ATL segment, which was on an E90. My partner sat down and said "Really, this is US F? Where's the legroom?" Even he noticed that it sucks. But, it was still better than flying in Y, and we arrived home about two hours after we would have on our original itinerary. Fortunately yesterday's UA trip was far better, with my first ever cleared upgrade on the IAD-LAX flight to a C seat on a three class 777. My upgrades for the return flights on Thursday all cleared before I departed ATL yesterday, so no Y for me this week on UA. |
