Question for the Box:
When did YOU first come to witness the illuminating superiority of the Star Alliance? I will begin the testimony. I first came to Star Alliance back in 2000-2001, when I was a United groupie. Though smaller at that time, Star Alliance was still immensely beneficial in terms of expanding airline options, particularly for TATL flying. However, after the 2000 SFH and 9/11, I left the light of Star for Continental. But, in 2006, I signed up for a US Airways Trial Gold Preferred promo that went horribly wrong, givng everyone who signed up free Gold Preferred status in 2007. Gold Preferred confers Star Gold, so I enjoy that benefit, and visited Star Gold lounges in the most random spots, like Durban, South Africa. And of course, with the events of October 27, 2009, my travel soul has been permanently mated to wonders of Star. What say you? I am almost committed to Oneworld - can you tell me why this is a huge mistake? :) |
Yikes, I have only 10, now 11, Box posts. I have my work cut out for me.

You must have NO confusion on this point - Delta Air Lines is the Wing of Satan. Their widebody aircraft are Satan's Chariots. Delta Air Lines is an evil entity seeking to destroy the awesome airline that is Continental. The good often defeats the Satanic, and so I hope it shall be in the looming battle of NYC.
I don't fly DL because I can't really out of TX, I mean looking up ANY route DL never in comes up within 2x the costs of even UA. But you are taking it too far. |
so now I am going to pad my post count with some p:rolleyes:sty-p:rolleyes:st-p:rolleyes:sts or else TrustGuy is going to overtake my post count in the Box - ghorror of horrors :eek::eek:

DL's 77L has a wonderful business class seat that beats out anything CO offers.

Actually, it was very enjoyable (of course, sitting up front on a $230 r/t fare helped). The crew (NY based) was extremely professional, attentive and friendly - one of the best I've had actually. The food was typical for a US carriers business class offering (and similar to previous DL BE experiences) - decent but nothing to write home about. I've always appreciated how DL tries to be a little more creative with their BE dishes (i.e. they offered a carrot and ginger soup on today's flight).
The only negative is the BE seats on the 763. They're terrible. Sure, they have a pretty comfortable cradle position (and they beat Y any day) but they're worn, a little too hard and far too narrow for my liking. I find DL's cart in the aisle service for BE so tacky, especially for what is supposed to be their most premium product. And the whole soup from a thermos thing is nuts. CO may not try to get as creative with the BusinessFirst food, but I've still found it to taste better overall, the presentation is infinitely nicer. After sitting in narrow premium seats on DL and NZ's 767s, I was pleasantly surprised by the new UA 763 C seat. It doesn't feel narrow at all, and was as comfortable in a 2-2-2 configuration as CO's 2-1-2 arrangement. |
