There is a quite nice Sofitel in PHL, right in Center City. Should you ever come up my way for that photo/ACY trip you were talking about, it might be a solid choice.

Indeed, especially considering the reviews that many PHL-area SPG properties receive.

The new aloft by PHL is actually a pretty decent property. Although, it's basically a "no-service" airport hotel.

Only 583 on my computer. Not nearly as exciting.

Philly is and forever shall be a generally miserable city. My feelings on Philly are in many ways akin to yours on Houston.

BD year rollover in a little over one week. Time to start considering requal Q-UP runs. With a $200 cert, IAH-BNA on UA/US for Sub-$400 looks tempting. Looks like I can route IAH-ORD-CLT-BNA and back for ~11K EQM (3.6cpeqm).

I really want to try out the newly remodeled Sofitel Los Angeles. Looks like quite a property, and it's competitively priced when compared to the W Westwood.

Location is pretty good too

Ewww, you'd have to fly US for that itinerary! I hope that's booking into the pointy end of the plane. But still, ewww!

Given that it would only be for CLT-BNA-CLT, I think I could handle it, especially given the price. Not too many other good UA Q-UP opportunities out of IAH at the moment.

Otter, what scares you more? The impending BD demise or the CO/UA cooperation?

ssullivan Sep 18, 2008 5:17 pm

I never credit Star Alliance flights to BD (I have UA status I'm sort of trying to keep up, and the E+ access on UA is nice), but I have become a BD miles whore with Hilton HHonors. At 1,000 miles per night, up to three nights per stay, my very frequent Hilton family stays are causing me to rack up a substantial BD miles balance very quickly. So I hope this aspect of BD's program will continue for as long as possible. I could easily get us two award tickets in business class from a BD US gateway to Europe by the end of 2009 from those miles alone. And I still get beaucoup Hilton HHonors points on those stays too.

Caller: "We checked in about an hour ago, and I'm wondering where my luggage is."
Me: "Did you call Bell Services, sir?"
Caller: "No."

First time in probably 100 that I got stopped by customs in HKG Tuesday night. Now I was heavy in the luggage dept. but I think it was based on where flights were coming in from. I was asked where I came in from and I said SGN. Off to inspection I went. They x-rayed all my bags; then pulled one bag in particular and pulled everything out (I will say - they did put on fresh gloves without me asking :) ). Here's what they were interested in - the magazines I had purchased IN HKG! They asked where I had bought - I said HKG, they asked if I lived in HKG; I said no, I had bought it at the airport prior to flying to SGN. Now we weren't talking porn mags - I had Hello, OK, etc. and this was a big issue to HKG customs? They didn't check my other bags and I was free to go after a few minutes. Still a bit bizarre and nothing I've ever experienced there. I was thrilled to get through immigration so quickly with my frequent travel card because the queue was really long that night; but then customs ate that time up :td:

Further proof that the average intelligence of Americans has dropped to somewhere around 15.
