What I find interesting about that situation, is that the poster checked his return flight/PNR. Most people don't even bother doing that. And those that do know how the system works and yet this poster didn't. Granted everyone that he talked to was wrong in not helping him and should have reinstated his PNR without all of those trips to/from the airport prior to his departure.

I'm sort of shocked that someone who flies that much doesn't know "the system" and how to get around it.

It had all the Kroger management in the area there yesterday. Way too mgmt. heavy; to the point they kept getting in my way. DO NOT get in the way of Baglady when she has an electric cart!

Because it's the first of it's kind, I think there will be pressure to keep it wonderful, but once there are several, the focus won't be there. I'm happy to have a grocery store that is 2 min away instead of Randalls (and it's a small Randalls with stuff sometimes out of date) 8 min away and SuperTarget 10-15 min. away. Kroger Marketplace has hefty competition because a fancy Wal-Mart with wooden floors is about 5 mins from it and HEB Plus (which was the first of its kind when it opened) is maybe 8 mins away. There are 4 housing developments right around Kroger as well as a new one going up, so I think they'll do okay.

May have spoken too soon on the car. The people looked at it, have the checks ready to go, but it's for their daughter, who was taking the SAT, so she wasn't there. Like any car that's almost four years old and has been kept in the city, there are a couple of very minor dings and scratches. Dad was fine with this; Mom was all worried that what sounds like a rather spoiled brat 18 year old daughter was going to throw a fit. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this car. But, Mom wants Daughter to see it first because Mom is afraid Daughter is going to throw a screaming fit at Mom if the car isn't perfect. We're back home now, and they're supposed to call and come bring the kid to look at it sometime this weekend.

Maybe I'm wrong here; I don't have kids and I never had parents who could just buy me a car at that age. But if my parents bought me a car and I wasn't paying for anything but gas and insurance, I don't think I'd throw a screaming fit at them over a few very minor defects in the paint. If I did, I'd probably be told I can go back to driving Mom's car when it's available. This is the kind of thing that a brand new car is going to have on it within 90 days of purchase anyway. We're talking 3, maybe 4, small marks here. But, apparently Daughter rules the roost here. That whole concept is just so foreign to the way I was raised.

I must say, they've been surprising me lately. The only flights I've had that weren't on time, if not early, were in situations where there was bad weather, and even then, the delays were less than 20 minutes. Every plane I've been on has been really clean — they've been pushing how they're doing a better job with that, and at first I was skeptical, but now I really believe them — and all of their employees I've dealt with this year have been very friendly. They've also made some recent improvements in their buy on board program in coach, but I think their catering in all cabins is still way behind CO's in terms of quality. But, it is nice to see them improving their product, instead of it declining, which is what was going on for so long.

Earplugs are your friends. I don't travel without them.

Actually, the newer Wal-Marts all seem to have that faux wood floor look — even the one in my parents' town has it, and it's certainly not trying to serve the same demographic that the one near you is.

Hopefully they will keep it up. It sounds like a really nice place to shop, and given that level of competition, and the neighborhood it's in, I doubt it will go downhill the way some of the others do.
