I think the hotels most of us stay in are far too nice for the Cheaters crew to be pulling up out front. They tend to hit those klassy joints where you pay at a bank-teller style window, cash in advance, they charge a deposit for the TV remote control, and you get asked how many hours you'd like the room for.

Good night, box.

That's great!

Good moring, box.

Last morn in SFO and CO254 to CLE is 55 min delayed. Not enough delay to use it get dim sum, unfortunately. I s'pose we'll just schlep our way to the airport and start drinking in the P-Club.

There is a p-club at SFO, right?

Dad was fine with this; Mom was all worried that what sounds like a rather spoiled brat 18 year old daughter was going to throw a fit. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this car. But, Mom wants Daughter to see it first because Mom is afraid Daughter is going to throw a screaming fit at Mom if the car isn't perfect. We're back home now, and they're supposed to call and come bring the kid to look at it sometime this weekend.

Maybe I'm wrong here; I don't have kids and I never had parents who could just buy me a car at that age. But if my parents bought me a car and I wasn't paying for anything but gas and insurance, I don't think I'd throw a screaming fit at them over a few very minor defects in the paint. If I did, I'd probably be told I can go back to driving Mom's car when it's available. This is the kind of thing that a brand new car is going to have on it within 90 days of purchase anyway. We're talking 3, maybe 4, small marks here. But, apparently Daughter rules the roost here. That whole concept is just so foreign to the way I was raised.

It sounds like the daughter wants a brand new BMW or something. It's not like the kid is ever going to wash it so being perfect shouldn't be an issue. Back in my days we felt lucky to even be allowed to get the keys to drive the station wagon much less get a nice new car.

I used to do around 125+ nights a year (almost all Marriott) before marrying Plus1. I would have an extra night of hotel every trip because of the flight schedule. IAH is a bit easier. I've already hit my 75 nights with MR and will get my SPG with the double stays. If I had stuff going on next door, I didn't notice because I had ear plugs in :p

We won the football game 42-0. My son was put into the game a few times and he would have been thrown a pass if the quarterback hadn't been sacked. The defense scored a few times. Love those interceptions and blocked kicks for a run back.

That's great! Does he feel more part of the team now?

I am happy to say I've only spent 16 nights in hotels this year.

And I prefer the comfort of many hotel beds to our own. We've both agreed that next year, it's time for a new bed.

We were that way until we bought a new bed. Now we can't wait to get home. I can sleep really well in most hotel beds.

Kids are ungrateful brats these days. I was brought up the same as you. Our kids are not getting new cars when they turn 16; I could care less what their friends are getting. My best friend started getting brand new cars at age 14 (lived in the "country" so had a farm permit as to not inconvenience anyone from driving her in to town for school. Except that her parents weren't farmers, but anyway) and wrecked 2 (someone else wrecked one but she was stupid enough to let him drive it drunk). She, in turn, bought her daughter a brand new car for her 16th birthday. Trust me, if there had been a dent or scratch or anything imperfect, there would have been whining, tears and moaning.

The only flights I've had that weren't on time, if not early, were in situations where there was bad weather, and even then, the delays were less than 20 minutes. Every plane I've been on has been really clean — they've been pushing how they're doing a better job with that, and at first I was skeptical, but now I really believe them — and all of their employees I've dealt with this year have been very friendly. They've also made some recent improvements in their buy on board program in coach, but I think their catering in all cabins is still way behind CO's in terms of quality. But, it is nice to see them improving their product, instead of it declining, which is what was going on for so long.

Good to hear. I'll still fly them when I have to; especially with *.
