Having top tier in Hilton, Marriott, and SPG I see both the good and bad in all three, and honestly, it's hard for me to say one is the clear winner over the others. They all seem to have their mix of outstanding, average, and awful hotels; and they all have their benefits as well as their areas they fall behind on. If you want to go after upgrades to larger suites, and plan on staying in a lot of properties that offer them, by all means, go for SPG Platinum. Keep in mind that coming from a program like Hilton or Marriott, you'll see fewer lounges overall at full service properties, and fewer comped breakfasts, things that Marriott and Hilton both heavily promote to their top tier members. A lot of it really comes down to where you're going to be traveling, and what you value most out of a loyalty program.

All very good points to think about. I like the Hilton brand for the predictability. There are some amentiy offerings that they lack at times but then again my stay at the Conrad in Tokyo was :)!!!

Ahem, do you mean "wobbly-bonkers" :D:D

My computer went all Wobbly -Bonkers this morning and that is exactly how I explained it to the IT guy at work. Ended up being dead batteries in the cordless keyboard I got about a month ago. May have to rethink that keyboard.

Feh. I'd not even bother with the store at that point. :-:

Huh? What scam promotion is this? :-:

Huh, the angus burgers they have had out here have been very good. Maybe it was because we were the test market for a long time and the smaller production runs resulted in a better quality product until it went nationwide. :-:

After a long weekend of DC tourist activities with my sister, I am ready for my MH C flight on Wednesday.

They're all predictable, just in somewhat different ways.

And I must admit that I'm quite fortunate to be able to maintain top-tier status in three or four hotel programs, mostly on someone else's dime. It does allow me to shop around more, and weigh all the options.

I'd probably have to pick one and stay with it if I was doing it just on personal travel.

I tried one a few weeks ago when I was desperate and the options were McDonald's or starvation. It was OK; excellent when compared to other McDonald's burgers, but just so-so when compared to burgers at other places.

Congrats, CM.

ROFLMAO! Did they think you were wobbly-bonkers using that phrase?

This has to be the funniest post of the day.

Maybe I can add to it. On Saturday, I came up from my basement (kids playroom is down there) and said to my husband: "the basement is looking pretty rolleyes". He looked at me like I was from outerspace, and then I realise what I had said :D:D

That was probably their target; and I think they did a pretty good job of hitting it.

I cannot believe you know her! I have known her for 17 years. We were in pre-natal classes together in Bristol with our daughters, and we've been friends ever since!

She's stayed with me in the US several times.

What a small world, indeed!! Next time she visits, we'll have to have a "do"

I find it extremely interesting.

Yes, Admiralty is a great legal specialty. Where would you do the LL.M.?

I guess so. If they were trying to build a better fast food burger than some of the other places out there, well, they still failed.
