Yeah, the ones you buy for grilling are totally untreated. Something purchased for fence building or other construction has very likely been treated to slow rot and deter things like termites. Not what you want to grill on.

I made it 2 min late for checked bag cutoff! And they would not budge :(

Yuck, that really sucks. Which airport? AUS?

For items you want to take home and cook from scratch, it pretty much sucks. Great if you want higher quality and more exotic frozen stuff, but most of the time that we've gone in there, trying to find fresh produce and such has been a challenge, because they just don't stock that much. Is that the case everywhere with them?

That's not the case everywhere - Trader Joe's is where I go to buy mushrooms and such (and in GA, where I pick up a case of wine).

I'll have to check out a different location sometime when I'm near one. Everytime I'm in the one near us I keep thinking there has to be more to this place.

Just finished using up my Starwood free weekend nights. We've done quite well with that promotion this summer:

  • Two free nights at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, upgraded to a suite.
  • One free night at the Sheraton Portsmouth, NH, booked at the very last minute into a standard two double bed room and upgraded to king room on the club floor.
  • Two free nights for September at the W Court in New York, my third choice, but since nearly everything else was sold out for the weekend, we'll gladly take it.

I could have racked up a few more free nights, but this perfectly fits what our travel schedule and planned destinations allowed, and still let me grab some nice summer bonus deals from Hilton and Marriott. And, all together, it's about $2,200 worth of free nights that we've redeemed, based on the lowest available rate at each of those hotels for those nights at the time I booked the reservations.

na GRK. Saabs... and they would not put checked bag on the next flight. So I had to wait around. I had a 4 hour layover in IAH anyway, so the bags would have made the connection.

Lost the upgrade too.....

Now I am wishing I had just shipped the thing I am carrying around, but checked bags are 'free'

at least they did not charge me SDC fee.....

Were you carrying something that couldn't get through TSA, and then just be gate checked?

Got to love the Colgan people at those small airports. They won't ever bend the rules, even just a little.

I have some computer gear I am carrying with me this trip, not a normal thing. too big for me to have it + 8 days of clothes(even just 3 changes, switches are bulky!)

It isn't pricey stuff, in fact it is debug/test gear, I didn't care too much if it got damaged in checked to be honest, I just was being cheap.

no huge loss, 2 hours later to FLL, and modified dinner reservation.

When did the earning period on this promo terminate?

No fun... I almost had the same thing happen on Friday. Had a busy day at work and left 30 mins later than I would have liked. Got to the airport about 40 mins out and ran to the screening area/gate. Made it through security fast except for almost forgeting my license and having the TSA yell at me down the hall to come get it. Got to the gate and onto the plane right away.

once in the PC at IAH had a Amaretto Sour. tried to get the same in DC and the bar tender would only use the margarita mix as the sour mix was for the premium drinks. I thought that was odd but didnt make for too bad of a change. Although that was only my second Amaretto Sour.

BTW, Pam Ann (airline comedian) is coming to the states this fall. Has dates in Dallas, Houston, NYC. Perhaps we should have a airline Comedy DO? details at www.pamann.com

My wife's family LOVES that store & Whole Foods. Thank god there isn't one anywhere near us or there would be no funds left for my mileage runs or our vacations. However, she can't live without their TJ's peanut butter and wine. Our compromise is that when I travel to somewhere with a TJs, I'll take HER suitcase and bring it back with wine & PB.

Gotcha. Probably no way it would have fit through the x-ray then.

I've been caught in a similar situation before, but with a bag too big to carry on but still of a size TSA would let it through — and then I've just done a gate check.

After I realized you didn't say Pan Am, I read it as Pamela Anderson... However, a comedy DO sounds great!

I love a good Amaretto sour! The deal-breaker for me, though, is the type of sour mix, as I've become spoiled and dislike a lot of them. I also really love a Midori sour and would be thrilled if the PC ever carried Midori. However, when I went out with some friends last weekend, I was accused of being a 17 y/o girl with the Midori sour in my hand.
