I have a different hotel story, last night was the 2nd leg of the Copa Libertadores Cup final in soccer ( Top Club teams in South America Compete)
It was played in Belo Horizonte Brazil after last weeks game that played in Argentina. Someone who worked at the hotel where the Argentina Club was staying notified the fans of the Brazilian club and they camped out all night tuesday making noise, beating drums and setting off fireworks trying to prevent the Argentinean players from being well rested for the final game. |

I hope you don't stand in the Thrifty line every time you go to LAS. Between Budget and Thrifty's often hour-plus line, I would lose what I have remaining.
Mirrored all over the place. I think it's funny that not only are people calling him a DB, one respondent asks when his Summer's Eve campaign is coming out. Ouch. Dan |

I must be very lucky (the few times that I have visited Vegas) I have always rented from Thrifty and never waited more than a few minutes and I have always been upgraded to a nicer car free of charge. I am a Blue Chip member and that seems to always help, but your mileage may vary.

When I was under 25, Thrifty was one of the only rental car companies that offered reasonable rates (or would even rent to an individual under 25), so I used them frequently and never had any problems.

Same here. I'm always amused when renting from them at SFO as there is always someone arguing with them about debit cards in the parking lot kiosk.

Can you believe their system was not able to pull up my reservation by name or confirmation number because it was under Blue Chip?

Anyone else read or hear about the crank calls coming in the middle of the night to hotel occupants to take some object and break out the windows in their rooms due to a gas leak. The callers say they are the manager at the hotel. In fact they got a police officer to break the window, throw out the mattress, and was about to throw his kids out the window.
Do people just have nothing else better to do. They say that the callers seem a little older than kids as some of the calls have found their way to the web somewhere. Reminds me of the McDonald's police searches of employees from a few years ago. |

It would be way cool, though. I can suggest a few places to visit along with some great restaurants. I've never been to the Vodka Museum but I know where it is. There's a great shashlik place nearby!

I am always amused myself, however, last time you and I were both through SFO, the Thrifty booth was empty and they gave us that nasty Jeep Liberty.

At least it wasn't a minivan. I had reserved the "Wild car" (they choose which vehicle you get) for a lower rate. Anyway, I'll rent any vehicle once. Never again for that POS, though.

Morning Box.
I felt like taking a peek at my horriblescope for today and it sounds FT'ish You are on the move today, in a world-traveler-hits-the-pavement kind of way.

Funny story time. :-: In 90 minutes "team Canada" (the Canuck's parents) land in SAV (on US -- that's not important, but it's ). 12 hours and 20 minutes later, the Canuck and I are scheduled to land. Apparently the "am" and "pm" got reversed in the metric conversion for her parents. @:-) So what does this mean? Her parents are meeting my parents for the first time. And spending the entire day with them. While I'm safely tucked away in my little office in NY. This is going to be a disaster of a weekend. I can feel it. |
