So i'm packing with some help from friends and we decide to wash the mountain of laundry from my trip to Paris/Venice as well as my various sheets/linens/etc so everything will be fresh for the new apartment.
We get 3 loads into roughly 10 or so total and the washing machine just gives up. I looked for a note, but it appears it just passed quietly of natural causes between rinse cycles. A panic trip to Lowes and a surprising $230 later the house now has a new washing machine which is quite snazzy. Way to go scratch and dent. It works really well and my clothes are coming out very clean - and the spin cycle works better so drying takes less time. I have, sadly, made minimal progress in packing though. :( Mine died a few months back (wouldn't go into the spin cycle - only did the wash/rinse). Turned out it was the lid switch which was *easy* to fix (me directing the Mr. is always easy. :p). Anyhow the machine still does not wash very well - my household is dog-centric so good fur removing ability is gettin critical. |

For me, the CO miles are useful only for longhaul travel... The nice thing about the PP card is the Flex EQMs, of which, I have a nice little stockpile.
I'd think a Plat traveler is well served to keep both cards (PPlus and the SPG Biz card.) If you fly at least 75,000/year then the PPlus card will net you 18,750 bonus miles which boils down to $.02, assuming the entire cost of the card is allocated to this. While $.02 is not quite the ideal <$.01 for earning RDMs, it is nothing to scoff too heavily at, especially when you consider the "frills" thrown in along with the mileage (the PC membership, Avis status, the customer service, etc.) Also the more you fly past 75k, the cheaper the miles become. Bottom line: if you fly a lot on CO, the extra miles can offset the cost of the card. That said, my default card is the SPG card as I think it's the strongest 1$/1point earning ratio due to the various awards offered by SPG and their impressive list of partners. (As a quick aside, many on the AA forum view the SPG Amex as the choice card for earning AAdvantage miles as there's a 1:1.25 conversion ratio.) Anywho, it can take some time to build up enough points for one of the better awards, but once you get there, there are some excellent values (my favorite is a Cat 4 night+flight) and of course, there's always the potential to transfer to the program of your choice. |

Well isn't that special? The Marriott plat line is closed on Sundays. I guess I'll call in the morning.

There was also a front loader on seasonal closeout that looked nice for $220 and a 3.5 whirlpool with more options for $250 but that had some pretty gnarly paint damage on the side. |

I am hoarding my CO miles because I believe that if CO does not filter the award availabilities, their STAR miles will be quite a bit more valuable than they are right now. This is from long experience with Dividend Miles which always seemed to be able to take us wherever we wanted to go whenever we wanted to go mostly in whatever class of service that we wanted. US does not filter the *A award chart and those miles are the most valuable that we have used in the past 6 or 8 years.
As for the PP MasterCard, we just got them when we were offered a very steep discount on the annual fee because of our lifetime PC memberships. I think that it is now time to build up the OP miles although I can also fill that pot from the SPG Amex and Membership Miles. I have quite a big decision to make as to next year's focus company for us. I would love to change it back to CO but EWR is a tough trip from the ES of Manhattan and CO still is weak on its service to WAS from the Southeast. We will see. |

I was looking at the ratings/complaints for the two models - suppose the folks complaining about leaks and balance noise took the 10mins to level the machine after they brought it home?

just got out of the Boeing factory tour, and the "museum" attached to it. Very cool, I sneaked my camera into the tour, but I didn't take any pictures. (I wimped out)

I have a mini fleet of aircraft available to sell at rock bottom prices.
One could get 5 planes with over 600 seats available for less than 75 million; each plane at LEAST 10 million under appraised value. A much better deal than those prop planes on sale in AMv2 now :) I simply have no more room to keep expanding, so am making aircraft on routes larger. |
