Mornin' box.

81 degrees and sunny in CLE again.

And a bonus......the City is finally clearing out the treeline in front of our house (like they said they were going to do 4 years ago) to give us back our lake view. :)

Morning Box.

Today is vehicle inspection day (which costs a lot in this county, but not as much as California), vehicle registration day (again, not as much as California for sure, but I get topay it twice for two vehicles), and hopefully Texas driver's license day. I still remember my driver's license number from my earlier Texas career; according to the new automobile insurance I signed up with, the license is still active. Hopefully they'll let me have that one back instead of issuing me a new number.

So far, we've found (as expected) a lot less  than we had in California. And working from home has been excellent thus far. Still waiting for Time Warner to come and install my 22mbps Internet access; that will be a far cry from the paltry 3G I'm using now.

Off to educate myself about RFID readers and devise some method to convert that data into an IP stream for transmit across 3G. A nerd's work is never done.

Have a good 'un. :)

Car Registration should be a hair over $62 the county can only add a few bridge maintenance fees...

I've watched every episode of every series. The earlier series were better than the newer ones.

I like everything about the show except the tasks where they ask the racers to eat live squid, or starfish or other stupid stuff. That's the one thing that I think cheapens the show. Other than that, I think it's actually a really good reality series.

Perhaps you and I should sign up to be racers ....;)

Well duh. Although they should be unveiling their new site any day now.

When are you fixin to be in SAV? I'm heading down middle of July. Toasty.

Mornin' box.

ETA -- Republic is buying FRNT. I figured someone was going to gobble them up, and even held their stock prior to CH 11 hoping someone would see the value there. I figured it would be B6. Oh well.

In other news, I'm sure you guys have heard about this, Clear is dead. Good riddance.

ETA V2.0 -- nevermind. I see you guys were talking about Clear last night. Disregard.

For some reason all of the ladies in my office are talking about how wonderful the Luxor pyramid rooms are.

For my cars, it was $40.75 for each car to get inspected. Then, registrations and fees totaled $374.60 for two cars (both are 2006 model year). They charge registration based on how old the car is. In Florida, they charge registration based on how heavy a car is. I still have my FL DL. When my wife went to get her TX DL, they take your old DL and keep it. Then, they give you a piece of paper that is your DL for 2 weeks or so till your new DL comes in the mail.:rolleyes: TX is weird like that. But, your TX DL may take longer to come in the mail. Looky here.

NY pioneered that oddity. We have these special high-tech licenses that they apparently have to send off to NASA to print. (they are really cool if you know of all the little security features)

Their very low-tech solution is the piece of paper as well. "This is a valid NYS driver's license. Accept it."

Oh, lookiehere. SC found its gov!

California does the exact same shenanigans when it comes to licenses.

I just don't get why they can't just put a printer in each office.
