What might have happened with your Diet Coke is that it was from outside the US. Those often taste different. Or your can of Diet Coke had been chilled several times. Unopened cans are used on other flights.
The plane hadn't been outside the US as far back as I could trace it (at least per the PDA site yesterday). I guess I've never chilled/warmed a can multiple times, so that could be it. |

I'm just torn between being lazy or going out there to take care of some stuff. Interesting note, NW/DL upgrade itins at time of ticketing if you are within your EUA window. No need to wait for EUA to run. |
