Good morning box,I'm currently on the only 1700 b fare available dfw flight.
There are rows and rows of empty seats and they refused to lower the price. I ended up using miles since 1800 would get me jfk lhr on vs uc and a free haircut.

CO seems to be using more B fares and at higher prices lately. Advance purchase and minimum stays are slowly creeping back on many routes, IMO.

They've been back for a few months now. I'm quite happy that it hasn't bitten me in the arse yet, though it is only a matter of time.

^Congrats! Hope the wait isn't longer than the 2 hrs, due to weather!

I just about choked walking to the car this morning. Humidity + ozone + allergies =*1000

Plus there was a massive warehouse fire near I-10 that blanketed the highway in a wonderful thick, black smoke.

Morning/afternoon box. I went to the Louvre finally. Saw Nike, Venus, and even some art that doesn't inspire brand recognition. Got utterly hopelessly lost trying to find the nice restaurant - turns out it can only be gotten to from the outside.

And as for paying admission - most of the people in my groupe are under 25 and thus get in free as students, but there were a few of us above that limit. We flashed, and by flashed i mean held in our hand, our student ID's and were let in. Seriously, i think if you pay for the Louvre you've been swindled with how easy it was to get in. As a student i do technically get in for free - but the French at every other museum has been scrutinizing my documents. At the Louvre they weren't even looking at real tickets - it seems to be an honor system.

It was almost as easy as getting into France itself at CDG - except my passport was actually touched by another human being (i think he would have appreciated it if i had opened it to a blank page for him to stamp).

At least it isn't DXB. The brief hop from the end of the jetway onto the plane the other day at 09:00am was enough for me. I got hit with a blast of 100 degree humid  as I walked onboard. That's just not right.

Haven't heard anything yet about delays. I think my flight is heavy. I may try for another VDB. There are only 3 F seats available, a big list of people on the Upgrade Standby LIst, and 30 people on the Standby list. Y is full. Not sure what happens in situations like this. Do they ask for volunteers so standby passengers can get on the flight or not?

It depends on if those people on the standby list are on paid tickets for that flight (oversells) or misconnects. If so, then they may ask, but the flights to EWR are every hour or so, so they may not.

I would just ask them and tell them you're willing to volunteer.

Nicely done!!! My last IAH - EWR on a 767, I sat in Y on a totally full flight with no VDB offers. Have a safe trip! :)

Ouch. Good use of miles securing the flight and if you can reticket at a later date. (if the price becomes reasonable)

Looks like the changes may be good but also remember that you could end up in the middle in the back. OH THE HORROR!!
