I've thankfully never set foot on AirTran.

I've made about 10 flights on them and actually didn't mind it at all. I bought up almost on all of the flights and it was an easy decsion to make.

I haven't flown them since the elite status I had (I don't know why I even had it, Baglady knows) went away.

My company does business with the Mouse. The hook up is indeed nice.

Dear Continental,

I have been traveling extensively with your airline since the beginning of the year and am eagerly anticipating gaining Silver Elite status shortly and Gold status by the end of the year. With a little luck, I might even become Platinum.

That said, it's been brought to my attention that once I achieve Silver Elite status that the doohickey on my OnePass account page of Continental.com will turn into a far less interesting graphical representation of my progress toward Gold and Platinum status. I greatly appreciate the quality and care that was taken in creating the graphical Silver Elite status progression doohickey, however, I cannot help but feel that the Gold and Platinum doohickey was not given the same careful consideration in design and implementation. In short, I find it disappointing.

While I understand that reaching Silver Elite status is a gateway to Platinum status, I feel the new doohickey over emphasizes Platinum status as a final goal. It seems to suggest that Gold is a mere mile marker on the way to Platinum which should be met with little fanfare and should not be considered a triumph. As a person who may only reach Gold status the choice of graphic representation through this doohickey saddens me. It suggests that if I achieve only Gold status that I am a failure as a customer with your airline.

My understanding is that Gold Elite status is met with increased benefits over Silver Elite status but below those of Platinum Elite status - suggesting to me that it is indeed worthy of its own graphical representation of progression toward itself, Gold Elite Status, as a defining goal for an airline customer.

Please take my comments and opinions into consideration and forward them to the appropriate decision-making parties within your organization. I eagerly await your response.

You forgot to ask for compensation.

What does the box think of SCL? I've always wanted to go and my wife pitched it last night for my birthday in November. I only see two downsides:
  1. November is warming up, maybe hot
  2. Getting there is a PITA. Cheapest is CO/Copa via PTY, but it's 3 737 flights with a 40 min connection in PTY and a 3AM departure from SCL  but connects to PTY-EWR
Upgrade to a dom-F seat for BF prices? Sounds

The wine, the Andes and the ocean sounds great. What does the box think? Any better options? Opinions on hotels?

My wife used to work for ESPN giving us free access. We never took advantage of it. :(

I know you want the miles but wouldn't it be easier to fly CO to somewhere else in S. America and then take a local carrier non-stop to SCL? That way you'll see two places instead on just one.

Negative, Ghostrider. I'm leaning toward a medium-size prop or a very small jet.

Thanks, that's a good idea, I'll give that a look.
