Lovely. And apparently no one remembered to tell the City. As Lewis Black would opine, "That's a crackerjack group of f**kers right there."

So I take it you had a pleasant, non-stinking CO experience on PHL-IAH?

Got upgraded on the B Fare (wasn't available yesterday evening at time of booking), which was good. Woke up for the Omelette, passed out for everything else. Gotta love an 05:35am flight.

Glad to se you survived the 4P PHL. ;)

It's newly renovated, and actually better than the adjacent Aloft, IMO. The 4Comfort Bed (at this particular property) is comfier than the Aloft bed.

Great. Honeymoon commences in MEX. Hopefully this thing sorts itself out within a month.

Good to know! It has been a few years, but last time I stayed there it was pretty bad.

Number of car crash deaths per day in the U.S.: 102. Swine flu deaths in the U.S.: 0. QUARANTINE YOUR CAR!!!

I'm sure the bacon flu hysteria will be over in a week or two. And if it isn't, it'll be a great excuse to stay in your hotel room in MEX. Never a bad idea on a honeymoon.

Speaking of more positive things - anyone with experience in KOA? Is a one-bedroom condo at the Kona Coast Resort a passable option? I'm working on budgeting so I can afford the Mini Do.

I have been to KOA and love it. I can not recall seeing many places that were not passable to stay, though you will need to rent a car.

ETA - I think that condo village looks great.

I like the concept of bacon flu - can we blame this on the french and relabel it grippe de lard?

I believe that line of thought is informally referred to as "newsroom logic".

I did figure out the need for car rental; I want to go to the volcano (and promptly begin singing Jimmy Buffett). The specific "resort" (don't know amenities) has condos, smoking is forbidden, and can be hotwired for less than $100 a night (fees inclusive).

It's a national pastime, right up there with Baseball.

So, 103 in a month would be an outbreak?

In a newsroom, that would qualify as a Black Plague-esque pandemic.

It is kinda like Vegas, you rarely spend much time in your room. The volcano is quite a trek from KOA but it is a pretty drive. The hardest part is the drive home since it is usually at night (dusk is the best time to see the lava).

KOA itself has some okay places to eat, with some better places up towards Waikaloa.
