The numbers are better right now, but there are fewer players and most of them are better. Plus the other sports actually get more media coverage because they have more fans. :p If it had been some random left wing who had the DUI in Florida the story would have dropped a long time ago.

Oh, and the NHL assaults are against other players DURING the games.

Thank you for admitting that hockey players are better citizens than football players - that's at the core of my belief that it's a better sport for kids. And, no, rookies aren't the only morons, but smaller rookie contracts provide for less enabling via cash. Also, the NHL CBA is structured so as not to let one player's deal be more than a given percentage of the team's cap hit. It's much more about the team on my side too. :)

I'm not going to touch the on-ice assault thing again - it's well and truly insane how many football players have mug shots versus the number of hockey players.

I remember being in Australia and people going crazy over the England Australia matches , they call it the Ashes or something like that. The pubs were packed at ridiculous hours and you could hear the chants "Aussie Aussie Aussie Aussie"

Yes sir, I saw that too. I am starting to get a grasp on the rules, but I am not totally there yet.

I'm not 100% certain that I said that, but whatever. It still doesn't make it more enjoyable to watch, more enjoyable to play or "better" in any way.

:D

It's all subjective from the standpoint of the fan. The only aspect of "better" that I'm sticking with is that hockey is a better place to focus a young kid's attention.

You lot have infected Baglady...

I am taking the day off today to have some family fun time with the youngsters. We're having a leisurely morning at Bag Regional Headquarters before we head out for the day.

The doorbells rings and it is Brown, making a delivery, which needs to be signed for. I scrawl on the machine and the driver says, "Be careful, it's kind of heavy."

I go to lift what I take to be a medium sized boxed and about herniate a disc. I ask if she's purchased bullion or something of similar density.

She replies, "No, presidential coins," and starts to protest, "No, really." But I am not doubting her at all as I came to that very realization just as the words left her mouth.

Then she says, "Guess how the nanny is getting paid this week?"

So, let us say that your indoctrination program is complete, thorough and probably irreversible.

Morning Box.

I never (conciously, anyway) said that it was wrong to like other sports. My point (however poorly I conveyed it) was just that hockey is better for kids.

I never had to do that because my dad took me to every major sporting event known to mankind (thanks, dad!) so I would know as much if not more than most boys. I also had a better baseball/football/basketball card collection than most boys. This was balanced out barbie dolls and ballet so I wasn't ever a tomboy, but I always loved sports. I was the first female sportwriter for our school paper and first sports editor for the yearbook. I enjoy some sports more than others and I can't think of any sport I'd rather watch on TV than in person as long as the seats are good ;)
