I will likely stay at a budget option unless one of the chain brands decides to be particularly accommodating, but I'm not really expecting that.

Agreed - time spent exploring the lake/canal area is a must, IMO. I'm not much of the fishing type though - I have a short attention span. :D

SPG and Marriott are not being overly accommodating so I may look into a somewhat lower end brand.

I got a great points+cash rate at the Radisson Decapolis (by the Multicentro Mall, which has a nice non-smoking casino) last year - a cab to Miraflores Locks was $10, to downtown / market was $3.

Isn't there a Courtyard right in that area as well? That could be an option...

I guess I couldnt complain too much about the place I stayed at. I would probably stay there again if I were by myself but you pretty much need to take a taxi anywhere you go. Why not share a room with someone at a chain and rotate nights so each of you get points?

That story does sound like quasi-normal UA Forum behavior. All he's missing is a direct request that someone who did not genuflect appropriately or bow to him deeply enough be fired.

I also rediscovered Green Day's Dookie. What a great album.

It is, and their hits compilation is quite good as well.

ETA - my friends that live in Astoria, use Time Warner. They're not crazy about the service, but have no real complaints other than a buggy DVR.

"How many of you were born in Astoria? How many of you were born someplace else, like California?" (I think I've used that before, but to me, "Kindergarten Cop" references never get old. :D)

Yes, I believe the Courtyard is $139/night.

Gary Collins blew a .29 when arrested for DUI w/ his RV. I don't think I could drive an RV sober so this is truly amazing.

Steph3N, I didn't want to reply on the other thread, but since you're a boxer - I do have photos of the CO employees who were egging people on to go in the overhead. They are in the photos laughing as the overhead is going on (both are in the pic, so it's pretty clear what they are laughing about). BTW, I don't know who broke the headrest or if it was broken before (having so many broken headrests when I fly, wouldn't surprise me if it was), but a very sober Mr. BL knows who didn't do it so the box is cleared ;)
