Internet first. Clothing later. :D

I'd most likely do cable out there for performance and ease/speed of install.

Oh. Astoria is pretty close to town. If you have RCN cable out there, I would recommend it. You can get about 50 HD channels, all of the premium channels (and I mean all), a landline with unlimited local and regional, and hi-speed (at pretty good speed). You can pick these things ala carte and get just what you need. Or it seems that they always are pitching some sort of introductory deal, like all three for $99.

I had one of those providers once - had to carry a separate phone for work emergencies (not kidding, was for redundancy), so I got a ($110) phone with a prepaid plan that cost $4.00 a month plus actual minutes used. My employer gave me $60 or $70 a month to defray the cost of providing my own emergency phone; never spent more than $20 in a month. ^

Don't get to benefit from that nonsense anymore.

Thanks for the welcome. I take a peek in here from time to time and often find a lot of the banter very funny.

Welcome to the Box. We really are a friendly group. Believe it or not, there is a lot of valuable OnePass, other airline, hotel, travel as a whole, etc. information discussed here, once or twice a day.

He will also participate in the entire DO!

Started a new thread here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/commu...-thru-6th.html

You're making this DO of yours way too good.:) I'm not surprised CO Insider couldn't resist that DO.

Oh limbo is a bad spot to be. Been there once for my first real job because of a four day July 4weekend. Ruined the weekend waiting. (God I miss those 5 weeks of vacation a year with them)

:D

I was talking to someone tonight at a meeting who has a real good shot of getting me some temp work doing something I really want to do for a living and I don't have to toss 20 years of engineering experience out the window either. Technically I'd be underemployeed but it's sure better than sitting around doing nothing in this cold weather. Just that slight glimmer of hope has put me in a chipper mood tonight.

I learned that with ATT they are a bunch of dimwits when it comes to SIM card issues.

Either they always want to replace the SIM card for the weirdest reason (Wait, you changed your plan? You need a new SIM card) to never wanting to.

ATT never learned how to do GSM right and sadly a lot of that has spilled over into the old Pac Bell Mobile which was one of the best GSM providers ever.

Thanks. I snarfed my water. That was classic, especially the Westin-mincer dog show part.

Cricket is owned by Leap wireless who owns spots of spectrum around the country. The bulk of their coverage is bulk minutes purchased from VZW. They started deploying their own network about three years ago with SAN being the initial market since they are based their.

It is definitely for the questionable "I don't want to be tracked" crowd and it shows....

Yeah.... it was a fun day as I was flying out that night. It's never good when you walk into the SF PClub almost two hours before your flight and the agent says "You really should just go to the gate since the security line is so bad".:rolleyes:

The combined with sitting on 101 for an amazingly ridiculous time didn't make me a happy camper.

I would like to point out the fact that the guy who yelled at a UA TA for UA's written policy that he knows is the same guy who posted 4 threads in the trip reports forum. This is also the same guy that was complaining that he was in international J instead of F for a 2.5 hr flight (which started said argument with the TA)

Haha — and here I am still using my original VoiceStream SIM card after nearly 10 years in my current T-Mobile BlackBerry handset. It was originally in a bare bones Nokia that had no memory and stored the full address book and all SMS text messages on the SIM card.

Did you sign up when Voicestream was a CO partner?

My first cell phone was a CellularOne "brick" - I was modern then, as my best friend had the "briefcase". There was a 10 cent fee for every call to a land-line.

MBM3 Feb 17, 2009 9:36 pm

My first cell phone was installed in 93 or 94 - a 3 watt car phone from Cellular One. I jumped up to a Motorala flip a couple years later. Gotta love those old school hardened grey plastic flips that were all the rage.

also know as the Zack Morris Phone :D

I have never had a flip phone - I went straight from the brick to the ubiquitous Nokia of the late 1990's.
