$49 to LHR??? What was this all about?

It was a while back they had a ridiculous fare to LHR in the MR Deals forum.

I really need to check that forum more often.

It's almost like having XM (before the merger) that you can take anywhere you want, and with the SDHC card installed, it will download stations so they will play when you're in a place you can't stream music, like on a plane.

Thanks! I'll look into this and forward it to the fiancee.

MR Deals is where all these insanely cheap CO same-day or redeye turns to the West Coast come from. If you want ~5,000 EQM for ~$250, it's the place to look. I just found PHL-ONT for $210++ last night. Almost 5300 EQM for that number.

On a more serious note, a travel agent is not unlike an attorney or any other skilled professional. You get to know them and they get to know you and a better experience results, as opposed to travel DIY style. That rapport that builds up ends up paying dividends on both sides of the desk. Unfortunately, people by and large seem to think that Teh Interwebs are a suitable replacement for a personal relationship. On one hand, I can't say that I blame them for the viewpoint because large chunks of society are morons. But on the flipside, the people who aren't morons deserve to have a business relationship with people who respect their skill and judgement, and I say that regarding any field of employment.

IIRC mine was 7/8/86...I may have slightly predated the OnePass name; not sure about that.

I'm fine with using a travel agent for some things. Before we decided to delay our South America travel plans for a year due to the economy, uncertainty about my partner's job situation, and debt we're working on paying off, we were working with a travel agent to plan portions of it. We were still going to book some hotels and flights on our own, because we wanted to use miles and points. But for the days where we were going to be
in more remote areas, without big chain hotels we could redeem points for, we were all about her finding us places. The same for arranging some guides and transportation for places like Easter Island. But for everyday flight and hotel booking, I'd still rather do it on my own. It's faster, I can get exactly what I want, and cheaper, as I'm not paying the travel agent's fee. I know there are great travel agents out there, but honestly, even with one I have a great relationship with, if I'm just booking a quick trip back to Texas for the weekend to see friends and family, by the time I could call or e-mail the TA and give him/her the dates and info, I could have booked it all myself.

I don't spend as much time over there as I used to, but every once in a while, it pays off.

Sunday night as we were hauling our luggage across the Westminster Bridge, listening to Big Ben chime, and heading for the Westminster Underground station so we could begin our trek out to LHR (we spent the last night there due to a 7:40 AM return flight yesterday), B said to me "So where are we going next?" I said "I don't know, where do you want to go?" His reply was "Why aren't you on FlyerTalk right now finding us another mistake fare?" :D

Oh that sucks that it didn't come with the latest OS installed. FWIW, I've been running OS 4.3x since last July (first beta, then the actual release). It's a huge improvement and well worth the upgrade.

There were plenty of  to go around last night.

When I picked-up the shift I had completely forgotten that schools weren't in session this week so kids were out getting in trouble. There were plenty of shenanigans to go around last night.

It also didn't help that the hospital that essentially covers my half of the county went on divert due to a contractor cutting their telecom lines. The hospital that covers the other half then went on high occupancy divert because they were picking-up everyone and everything.

My partner turned to me when we got that page and asked "What's plan C, the animal hospital?"

Can BlackBerry noobs get the process done? Or, maybe more accurately, what is the process?

I want to keep an eye out for PHL-SEA/SFO/LAX/SAN. I am going to need about 18K to requalify for gold.

Don't forget SNA, ONT, SJC. SAN isn't the best option mileage-wise; it's noticeably lower than other CA cities. SNA and LAX are the EWR/PHL of the West Coast. Same day same-ish connection times can often be $50 less for SNA vs. LAX. And you get to see a huge statue of John Wayne, and see where part of the beginning of Jerry Maguire was filmed.

This has never made sense to me. Maybe it's the airline's way of saying  to only having one runway. But then, SNA only has one runway. On that's right, it doesn't have a big hill with multistory structures under the final approach path.
