Try eBay stores (seriously). That kind of widget is about the only kind of electronic component perfectly safe to buy there, and the prices are generally great, with free shipping if light enough to go USPS First Class.

Update: Just checked eBay for "Magsafe adapter." Looks like 14 bucks is below their market.

I buy all those little things from eBay for easily half what the exact item goes for in store - car phone charger, car 12-volt inverter, international travel adapter ...

RE: Magsafe adapter

Wrong earlier: See for example.

Others as well under 5 w/ free shipping.

eBay or craigslist - have some flakes on both but don't pay listing fees and worry about shipping with the latter.

sitting around? I somehow broke my Magsafe adapter and I don't know where/how to go around getting one without paying an arm and a leg. $14 seems a little too much, and that's the best price I've seen.

Generally if you walk into the Genius Bar and ask for one, they'll give it to you.

I've had a few break and I just walk up, mention it broke and they hand me one.

Yes, I think I only have one of my transit-airport-states and countries that doesn't have other activity: TPE.

Yes, and actually it really is very nice these days^

+1 - I went last summer and it was totally fine. No HHH or Gulf of Thailand, but no complaints.

How extensive is your gym? Stretching, swimming, water exercise, lifting, etc. are all nice things after a day when it's difficult to keep hydrated.

I really do wish my gym had a pool. That's its only real drawback.

Well, with a little luck, the combination of eating- and anxiety- disorders that come naturally with the approach of a wedding (and the return to school, maybe?) should kick in to assist in the final surge over the trenches of Too Heavy. ;)

I wish! Never had that problem. :p My mother and sister claim to drop 10 lbs in a week when something sad/awful happens to them. Insane.

I believe I left my bose headphones and Ipod in the seat back pocket (with 2 drink coupons in it to boot). Who knows if I'll get that back. It does have my card in it as well as the ipod is engraved but . . .

Then I left my purse in the concierge lounge last night; got it back; all appears to be there except my sim card is missing from my phone so not able to use it.

Sigh. I should have stayed home and in bed!

:( this sounds awful! Any update on the return of the headphones/ipod?

+1. :td: Apparently the price differential over the regular unlimited data plan is smallish on Verizon, so tjtenor4 has it (that and I don't think he could stand knowing that something like that existed and NOT getting it :p), but it about doubles for AT&T so I continue to be unable to justify it.

Despite the heat, it's been a fun weekend here. I'm loving living in this city more and more. And I haven't missed Atlanta at all since we moved. I miss our loft there, mainly because it was just so "us," in a way that a rented apartment never quite will be, but other than that and some favorite restaurants, I don't miss that place at all.

Sounds awesome. Despite seeming to spend a lot of time in this area, I haven't really been able to really do a lot of fun city stuff, which is unfortunate. Hopefully that will change someday. I wonder if the fact that this house is not at all Metro-convenient has something to do with it.

Oh well, let us get off this topic. We don't wanna go that route!

Have I ever mentioned how...different...the average FT political bent is from any other subgrouping of the general community with which I have any significant interaction?!?

OK, I'll break it up here. 2 mins away from a shootout in the Paraguay-Japan game. Since I have nothing invested in the result, that should be entertaining. :)

Ohm, I see, but Watt's that got to do with it in the end?

Howdy, Box.

Did 10 miles of hiking yesterday, about a third of it with our suitcases. Then a 20 mile bike ride today. Another 20 or so on the bikes planned for tomorrow. We're going to need a vacation when we get home!

Thursday is July 1st. Nothing like a start of the month to start tracking progress. Thanks for the good vibes. ^

Don't mistake the politics of FT at large with the politics in Teh Box. I would argue that the Box does not so much lean one way or another as in right or left, but is generally more libertarian. IMHO, the rest of FT is teetering on the left edge and trying not to fall off a cliff. I've always found my perception of that to be surprising given how many business travelers post here...one would think that capitalism and laissez-faire economic thought would be quite popular in these parts, but I don't get the feeling that they are.
