Is that the structure that one of the main streets that runs along the lake (John Nolan ?) goes under in a sort of Lower Wacker Drive imitation? If so, even from below, it's impressive.

I have no idea as I won't even get to MSN until a few hours before - I have a FEMA event in MEM the previous day.

Gotcha. Good location to be - I've stayed at the Hilton which is adjacent to Monona Terrace - nice views of the lake, and short walk to the Capitol area, where there's some decent eats. UW campus is just a few blocks further.

I had initially thought of staying at the Hilton until the brand-new Hyatt Place opened :D

I so hope that fizzles out before Friday when we have to fly through it to get to PVR (based on that 5-day model).

Airplanes can fly over or around hurricanes with little issue. The only worry should be if you need to change planes somewhere near the issue.

Check this out:

http://www.wunderground.com/radar/ra...=9999&smooth=0

That radar image shows the height of the cloud tops, with most of the high parts coming in at FL250 for the most part. Cruise at 35,000 would be no issue at all.

I flew over Katrina and Rita...it was stunning.

flying over rita while it was still a ways out had huge 'waves' of clouds that were just awe inspiring. I tried to get pics but none could do it justice and I don't even think I have them anymore.

It was interesting that the flight over rita was one of the smoothest I remember, ever.

Unless you have to fly on CO1491 below 10,000 due to pressurization problems ;)

Well, some of us in Teh Box really ARE shockingly good-looking, and are unafraid to use our good looks to get all sorts of minor (and occasionally not so minor) rule bends/exceptions/waivers/favors/gratuities/etc.

You think I'd have the travel luck I'm often fortunate enough to experience if I was a fugly dude? Hell to the naw...

Huge center of low pressure, no pressure changes to cause the bumps. :)

No, someone filled a copyright claim on one of my sites and Godaddy locked everything down.
