I'm going to knock off at about midnight - glad I brought my portable fan (white noise) because there's a fairly loud bar with music across the street.

Good evening Box. Hope everyone is having a great time! Part of me wants to 86 this trip and head on over! :)

I'm here at JFK. 762 transcon in F was just great. Not sure what all the hAAters are whining about. Didn't hurt that the cabin was very empty (although not as empty as previously thought). Food was fine, service was great, seats were very comfortable. I was pretty much passed out through half of it though due to lack of sleep.

At teh AC until I get kicked out, then it's off to find a rock to sleep on for a bit.

Good night!

Oh, by the way, the crowds in Chicago for the Blackhawks rally ended up being much larger than the city's original estimate. The city's official crowd estimate was 2 million. That's more like it. ~25% of the greater Chicago area. :-:

Good for them. Anything they can do to top Philly.

Nah. No adult supervision needed there. :D

Good Evening, Box. I spent the night building a case to get someone fired. I think I'm catching on to this non-casino thing pretty well.

Speaking of - there was a guy wearing his Blackhawks jersey on the PHL Alamo shuttle earlier today (yes, to pick up a vehicle). I got a chuckle out of that one.

That is a gentleman who is not lacking for testicular fortitude.

I've worn Washington Redskins gear and NYM gear at games in PHL (back when it meant something, which has been a while for the former) but this would clearly be an example of "too soon" :D

you know the water in the city is bad when BK dedicated LED sign time to say this:

this morning I was driving along, and I saw backhoes up in the air.....I did a double take, did I really see that? Sure enough I did, I turned around and verified it and took a couple pics to prove as much:

I could not find a good point to get a pic of this from road level (had to go down below the tack level to get these pics safely)

I'd have loved to have gotten as I saw from the road, those guys were way up there.
and I forgot, the TRAIN WAS MOVING and these guys are sitting in there, doing some sort of work, dumping gravel out of the car to the side of the tracks, don't they make a dumptrain car for this purpose? (I really don't know, seems they would!)

Just had a great dinner with the Box + a surprise visitor.

Out to drinks now with mwg25, colpuck, Mackieman, and COFreqFlyer.

Thanks, all, for a fun evening. I have now gotten much better acquainted with driving around the more "scenic" parts of downtown Newark, and Mackieman has gotten much better acquainted with both the front and back seats of the VW Golf. :D It was great to meet some new friends and catch up with the old ones!

I will be somewhat off the grid for the next 10 days as I bike to DC with 32 16-year-olds, about 9 other adults, two buses, and two pickup trucks (if you're curious, this is the itinerary) - probably won't be in here much though I'll try to say hello when I can. That spare BB battery arrived just in time!

I hope that y'all have a FANTASTIC time both tomorrow morning and afternoon, and that the USA manages to pull it off. :) Wish us luck/good weather/health/strength of legs and spirit...

Congrats. That's the harder of the upgrades on that flight. SEA-ANC is a lot easier.

We went to take a short nap after my partner got home tonight around 5:30 PM, fell asleep, and woke up at almost 10:00 PM. Now I'm wired.

Dinner consisted of a bag of microwave popcorn and diet orange soda around 11:00 PM. Yeah, that was healthy and nutritious.

K fare helped. Am now in ANC, enjoying a shiny new dot and line (and currently my Northernmost airport). It's midnight here, and not entirely dark. Time to go find a quiet bench to sleep on near teh UA gates (ANC-DEN already departed, and AS concourse is a zoo).
