That is surprising. Wasn't it a big deal that Boeing was able to get ETOPS-180 certification for the 777 before the plane went into service? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that ETOPS-180 was supposed to require demonstrated safe performance over a certain duration.
I also think that Japan chose not to issue that certification even though other countries did so flights to/from Japan had different ETOPs regulations. Or something like that. I'm also not entirely sure why CO would go ETOPS 330 on their aircraft. There are very, very, very few routes that really need that level of rating and even fewer from CONUS. It is much more significant for southern hemisphere routes. http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?MS=wls&DU...&EV=410&EU=kts |

Then there was also the pesky request by (who else) BA...they would not sign the contracts to buy the 777 until Boeing took one at full MTOW and aborted a takeoff at the max published abort speed. This apparently had something to do with BA's desire to use the type on DFW-LHR. |

Their song "The Cave" is pretty ^ as well. For those that haven't clicked on the linky link, we're talking about Mumford + Sons (no, not your local plumber). Best way to describe them is Dave Matthews meets the Avett Brothers with a dash of Dropkick Murphys. Pure Awesome. |

Maybe that's the whole point. Think about it a little backwards: given the range the aircraft is supposed to have, it would only make sense for it to have the largest ETOPS possible so that an airline could have the thing fly essentially anywhere.
From CONUS the only routes that need it are NZ and Oz and those only barely need it. Everything else - Africa, S. America, Europe, Asia, Middle East - can all be covered with 180. It wouldn't surprise me that Boeing wants it that way but I don't see value to CO. In sad news, I was an idiot and scheduled a doctor appointment for 10:15 this morning. I'm going to miss most of the first footie match. |
Well earlier flight to NAS INP unless dollars are exchange. Hope my flight is in an oversold situation
Eta: lots of open seats on earlier flight Eta2-losing mind quickly-traveling with 5 females, 4 are teenagers whose biggest thrill thus far was to laydown on the floor at the gate and mock others, while blasting their Ipods. And yes pillows and stuffies were involved. Thankful they were zone 3 and my Z1 allowed a quick, boarding  |

Hang at the B club. It isn't bad at all. Lots of smaller rooms rather than one big one. A few pics of it here.G'morning, Box.
In other news, just the brief walk up the jetway was enough to remind me why I don't live in TX any more. |
Web help desk fail. Over 45 minutes on hold, and they can't fix the out-of-sync EUA. Told that my only option is to bring it to the attention of people at the airport.
