I'm bracing myself for a transition to UA rewards chart, especially on the RTW side of the equation. :(

The m:rolleyes:vers had to reschedule our delivery for tomorrow morning. Fortunately, they are treating us to a night at a hotel (^ to an SPG stay credit) so we don't have to spend another night on an air mattress. :-:

If international F rates go up substantially after the merger of OnePass and MP, I will just liquidate my account for as many F tickets as I have miles available and start rebuiding from scratch.

I think my company gives $20 for the entire trip. But I'll need to check, that seems a bit high.

Nah....in most cases I still went out to dinner at a restaurant. Breakfast - if I ate it which I usually don't - at the hotel was free. Lunch was always <$10 as a sandwich or such. Dinner could easily range from $20-50 depending on what I was eating. But that adds up over several weeks and the savings were real. I think I walked away with something like $7K in per diem savings during my 8.5 years at that company.

And, to be fair, I was only paying for a few hotel nights and all the incidentals/meals during the trip. The airfare and many of the hotel nights were covered by points, most of which were earned from work-paid adventures.

I just watched my co-worker book a trip to CTG on Spirit. They seriously charge for everything. His airfare started at $440 and ended up at $560 after all the extra fees. This is the same one that is going to PEK tomorrow. We looked at other options but at the times he needed the prices were outrageous.

ETA: I've already warned him. I did Spirit in a Big Front Seat and thought it was pretty shitti.

Fixed. :D

sdm1130, saw your post about the Shiner Family Reunion. Costco has it in stock. It's about $24-$25 for a case - 24/12 oz. bottles. They also carry Shiner 101 and Bock.@:-)

ok 8.5 years makes sense then, I was thinking 2-4 years and enough for a wedding would be a LOT of savings in that timeframe :)

I spent 450 yesterday alone....alas it was not only food items :D

It was the honeymoon, not the wedding. And about $3500-5000 of that was in a 2-year window as I was planning. At about $300/week gross income and 30-40 week/year on the road it wasn't all that hard to save a few grand. The key for me was having the discipline to put the money in a separate account when I received it from the office and paying out the CC from that account. The leftover balance grew quite nicely.

I hate peon status on CO. :( I just booked tickets IAH-FLL. I guess CO is able to sell seats on these flights (I booked for $335.90 a/i ). F is wide open, and so is the elite section. Kettle section is now closed off for seat selection. Since I have a toddler on my lap, I was automatically assigned 39B, IAH-FLL (getting the last kettle seat on a 757). The people in 39A and C will hate me. I don't care. At 24 hours, I hope to change my seats. On the way back, I have no assigned seat. I doubt there will be a chance for a VDB on the way back (last flight of the day to IAH), but I'll take one anyway. One more day to spend w/ family wouldn't be such a bad thing.
