With Lane Kiffen, I wouldn't expect much out of USC anyways.

I havent taken the time to understand CO rewards on *A. I just pulled up the *A website to search for a flight to USM and the only routing it gave me was via Europe. Will this work on a reward ticket. BTW, there were some great carriers including Thai, Swiss, Lufty, etc...this would be nice.

Yes, you can get to Asia via Europe as long as you return the same way.

Unless they've changed it a return the same way might not actually be required.
If you go over via the Atlantic/EU and go home via the Pacific then you get dinged for a RTW. I've done covert checks with about a half dozen different agents on this and they've all, consistently, told me the same thing. |

So then the optimum use of miles for a trip to Asia would be US to a Euro gateway city to your Asian destination, with either the outbound or the return containing less than 24 hours in a European gateway of choice (stopover), in addition to using an open jaw on the Asian side of the equation, right?

Yes, except that the stopover can be greater than 24 hours. You can have 1 stopover and 1 open jaw and 1 destination.
