for the AAers in the BOX. Saw this fare at AA.com.

BOS-SAT RT 230. FOr general members not the best but those with status if my calculations are correct come out well ahead.

8248 miles with 100% miles bonus and total cost of $231. About .05 a mile if general member.

This assumes a 500 minimum for elites.

So then the optimum use of miles for a trip to Asia would be...

... whatever you want to do. Some of us don't like sitting on planes (no matter what class of travel) and therefore taking the slow boat to China is not always the right boat.

If you have enough time / wits / interest then yes, going to Asia via the EU with a stopover is a fantastic piece of FF :-:.

Yes. It is a steal.

I know of a few bank errors in individual's favor as well. But I also know that banking on booking something like that is a fool's errand.

I'm done with Hilton.

Anyone think if I put in for a status match with SPG now they'd carry it through all of next year? For context, I had 11 stays with SPG in the 1Q, and close to 20 so far with Hilton YTD.

I don't want to waste my status match to SPG if it's only going to be good for 6 months. I'm pretty confident I can earn Plat. through stays for balance of year but I don't want to pull the  I did last year and end up with 23 or 24 or whatever it was and miss out on the Plat. bennies between now and then.

Hold out another month. I status matched in late July last year and it is going to carry until Feb of 2011.

I think EUA is broken for CO 7, SAT-IAH tomorrow morning. Not that I'm too worried or anything about sitting in Y on that flight. Just wouldn't mind seeing the magic e-mail in my inbox sometime before early tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the, fast, cryptic response William. :-:

Having you in the box is as convenient as ordering room service. Without the awkward explanation on the expense report.

You justify room service?

I used to feel guilty about it. Now I just don't care all that much when I order it. If I'm tired, hungry, and comfortable, I'm quite happy to order the $15 cheeseburger and fries, $3 Diet Coke, and pay the 18% automatic tip + $3.50 service charge.

I feel that way about room service breakfast.

As per the terms of our T+E policy room service is not a "justifiable reimbursement expense."

It's frowned upon almost as much as "glitter factories."

This is a good point. In the absence of funds for a membership somewhere, I might just have to go pick up some freeweights.

There's a lot of stuff you can also do with just body weight and such - using stairs, benches, maybe a ball and mat. Also the resistance bands are pretty useful. I haven't done a lot of the plyometric stuff, but that's supposed to be really good for fitness and agility.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Unlike last year, I simply can't afford to give a single EQM to a second program. Based on where I'll be on 6/30, if I keep up the same pace as I have been doing for the rest of the year (though I know that that may be tough as I'm always busier in the fall than in the spring) I'll be OK for *G, but it's going to take a longhaul trip or a bit of crazy back-to-back transcon action for Platinum to be re-achieved (which would be really nice for honeymoon-award-planning-purposes).
