Greetings, Box. A wedding guest has had to go back to their car three times.

Westin La Cantera would be close, if it had a lazy river.

ETA - I also am partial to the Sheraton South Padre Island, but picking the right time of year to go is key. The beach is no fun when it's 105 degrees and disgustingly humid, or when it's packed with Spring Breakers.

I didn't know the Westin La Cantera existed. Will have to plan a stay there in the fall and pay a visit to their spa.

The Sheraton South Padre Island is also on the list, but IIRC, you suggested waiting until October to visit, correct?

Yes. I am doing IAH-SEA-ANC-FAI-SCC-BRW-FAI-ANC-PDX-IAH next weekend. Depart Friday evening and return Sunday early am. If you are doing IAH-SEA-ANC, we should have at least one of those segments (SEA-ANC) together.

Just a friendly reminder to sign up for double miles on the PDX-IAH flight if on CO.

Unfortunately, $203a/i INP for requested dates. Looks like I'll be enjoying HOU-LIT-HOU with WN, instead. :-:

What about BHM (Burmingham, AL)

Afternoon, Box.

We have really been enjoying our time in SAT. The Westin location was great, and we did some sightseeing and have indulge in many adult beverages.

Thanks, scott6067, for the recommendation on Mi Tierra. Great place for breakfast, and the bakery there is amazing.

We also stumbled into a little place caller Durty Nelly's Irish Pub. Stopped in for one beer, and left four hours later. Somewhere in the middle of it all we were standing up showing the entire bar of Texans how we sing "Hang On Sloopy" and spelling out O H I O. It was quite a site.

:)

Glad yall had fun in SA!! I think SSullivan and I tied for stirring you to Mi Tierra! :)

Don't expect luxury at teh Sheraton, as it's a beach hotel, and a Sheraton. However, it does offer Texas' best beaches, great fishing, and the Gulf is actually a nice color down there (unlike the turd brown waters off Galveston). It's simply the best beach option in Texas, with the next closest good beaches being the Redneck Riviera of AL/FL (which don't sound like great options at the moment). WN also keeps CO honest on flight prices to HRL.

There are far better beaches out there, but it's convenient. And, yes, I'd say early to mid October is probably the best time of year down there. Snowbirds haven't arrived yet, temps will be upper 80s or low 90s, and water temps will still be bathtub quality.

I was very happy with a recent stay at the LM.

Some may even say it's a short walk to the Golden Gate Bridge. :p

I found the hotel very helpful and in a decent location to many things on that side of town.

As to the walk to the Golden gate bridge, well I broke said person in a few years prior when we enjoyed the ride on MUNI to the Japenesse Gardens and then the liesurely walk from that park to Fisherman's Warf!! That was a long walk too!! :)

BHM is much further from MEM than LIT. LIT is actually closer than BNA.

The photos on SPG.com seem to confirm the lack of luxury (as expected), but the beach down there does look pretty nice. Soaking in a warm Gulf in early October will be quite nice for someone from the Northeast. :)

Only two valets and me tonight, with about 30-some cars. Should be a good night for cash, and mercifully a front came through and the area has receded back into weather normalcy.

My step-mom crashed a wedding at the Canuck's and my venue yesterday. She told me it was 99 degrees when the ceremony ended at 6p.

That's how we like it. Nice and swassy. :-::-:
