The changes are not based on increased weight as they do not weigh their moves, but on the number of items. I am being charged more because the number of items went up. The contract under the title says binding move interstate. The screwy thing about the movers is they used number of items and weigh interchangably which I brought to the owenrs attention today and was finally told that they basically charge the move based on an average weight per item. so if they move a chair, it could weigh 10 lbs or 50 lbs but their average weight for a chair is 25 lbs so that is what the charges are based upon. the assumed average weight. I understand now that I didn't get enough research done into this move as I thought I had.
The part that upsets me can't be changed in that I felt and understood that would inform me in a tiely manner before the move that I had additional items and that the move would cost me more. At that point, like I told him, I would have paid the cancellation fee and moved it myself. I think I may go back and say I will meet him in the middle and see what he says. As I feel both parties are partially at fault. |

Items are moved in except for a picture I bought and had framed from my MSP-LGW mistake fare.
Then what is the problem? Your goods are not being held hostage, so as far as moving costs disputes go, yours is pretty tame. Just stick with what you've done so far (stand by the credit card charge). What can the moving company really do to you?* * Aside from, I guess, burn your new place down while you are sleeping in it one night, since, after all, they do know where you live. |

I love/hate that Mayoral elections here are nonpartisan. |

I thought that once a moving company loaded the truck, that comfirmed their acceptance of the original estimate. If the movers believe that there are additional goods above what was agreed to in the original estimate, don't they need to renegotiate the estimate first, then load the truck?

I understand that the move involved more items than originally estimated (my fault), they fowever didn't inform me until the move took place and items were in their position (their fault). In this case I would be willing to go 1/2 way with them and settle for 1/2 of the difference in the original estimate and the new estimate.
