My IAH-BPT flight tonight was one of the smoothest turboprop flights I've ever had. Beautiful weather for flying at a low altitude tonight when we did it, although there were storms to the northwest of IAH when we departed. But the flight was crystal clear, no clouds, no wind, no turbulence at all. And yet the girl behind me was on the verge of projectile vomiting the contents of her digestive system within 3 minutes of us taking off. Her brother and mother were seated on either side of her and kept fanning her and talking her through the flight. Poor girl. I was just glad she didn't get sick, as the back of my head was in the line of fire. I'd hate to have seen her on that flight the last time I did it, when we flew east across strong north winds, and the plane was rocking and rolling the entire time.

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

Also, my most recent turboprop was EWR-DCA and it was just lovely. Plane was pretty empty, skies were clear, gorgeous day. Nice views of the ground and the usual Potomac River approach. I really enjoyed it.

It was my second (in recent memory) Dash 8 that almost did me in. It was only PHL-EWR, but the weather was awful and I was not feeling great and...yeah. I didn't actually lose it, but I did spend almost all of that hour with my eyes closed just willing myself to keep it together. I've never been so happy to see an E145 (for EWR-CHS, the second leg of that trip). And I actually didn't have any turboprop segments scheduled for a few months after that, so I think the phobia had time to run rampant. :p

Woke up with itchy nose and green stuff. Fun on both counts.

Me too. :( The sore throat has mostly subsided, and the head congestion's a little better than yesterday, but it has been replaced with other symptoms of .

I just passed up my opportunity to fish with my old man in the Poco Bueno out of Port O'Connor. This is the second year I havent been able to do it. :(

I used to fish this with my dad every year, up through College. That time of year, the Gulf likes to get nice and rough near Port O. I remember being beaten near-senseless during the trek out to 80mi. offshore, as the Gulf likes to set up poorly formed waves with no backs to them, which can come from several different directions (not like Pacific rollers). It was unpleasant, even in a decent-sized boat, like a 55ft Hatteras.

We've probably seen each other there. Ive done this every year since I was about 9 up until the past 2 years. We usually went off the coast of LA in a 41 ft Luhrs. I only remember getting sick once and that was probably due to the alcohol intake.

My co-worker is flying IAD-PEK in June on a Q fare. Can someone tell me if this is upgradeable. Also do the SWU upgrades on UA process immediately or would he be wait listed. Im thinking of trading someone in CC but dont want to get stuck with a UA SWU if for some reason it doesn't clear.

There is a way to check to see if it is SWU upgradeable instantly. If not you have to be added to the waitlist.

I can answer the question about whether it will clear immediately: only if NC inventory is available. As for if Q is upgradable, I believe only W and higher can be SWU'd while other fares can be upgraded for cash + miles. I have no idea where Q falls in the hierarchy on UA relative to W.
