Exactly. We haven't looked at anything in Virginia yet. I like Alexandria, and it could be an option....

And the taxation issue in VA is a large factor. Since neither of you will work in DC, before you move there do an evaluation of the commuter wage tax and other taxation items. I will bet that if you were to end up in Alex you could save a significant bundle and also have a good neighborhood to enjoy.

We have operated apartments in Falls Church for quite a while and do know a bit about the markets and the wrinkles involved when you rent in Virginia. If we can help with some questions about local customs and procedures, just ask.

Are income taxes generally lower/higher in Virginia? I couldn't really tell from your post.

That part doesn't bother us much. He grew up in a high rise apartment. Other than my parents' house, every place I've ever lived has been a college residence hall, apartment building, or condo building. So we're totally fine with having less space in a multi-residence building.

The person passed me to board the NRT-LAX flight. I turned to notice that going down the back of this person's light gray sweatpants, was this long wide brown stain.

For the sake of sanity, I took no pictures. I instead praised various gods that this person was not on my flight.

OMG that is just about as gross as you can possibly get!

Basically makes more sense for me to schlep out to EWR and get a car from the Executive Isle at National once every other month or so when we need one for big shopping trips or weekend vacations. In most cases I need something bigger than a Prius/Civic anyway.

In DC it's $7/hour or $77/day (starting). I could see for shorter periods of a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday using ZipCar. For anything longer, or if we needed a larger vehicle, we could just rent one from a traditional rental company. Washington Union Station has rental desks for several companies, including National, so I could see that as a very possible option for those times when we're not just making a Target or Whole Foods run.

Lungs are supposed to be nice and juicy - not filled with fluid. So I'm on meds and trying to expectorate without coughing myself silly.

Income taxes are lower in VA than in DC and Maryland, but VA has various property taxes that add up. Overall, VA has the lowest overall tax burden in the area, though.

That's disgusting.

Three times since January 1 I've sat next to a COS who smelled like that person's pants too. The worst was in the aisle seat of my ORD-IAH flight in February, and I had the window seat (in F, of course). He had to stand up to adjust the volume on the IFE system because his body completely blocked the controls while seated. That meant his @$$ was in my face when he changed the volume, which he seemed to do frequently. And it smelled like he hadn't cleaned down there in a very long time.

If you live in DC, most of the limited amount of zipcars are booked days in advance for weekends. I just rent from National when I need a car.

Thank you CO reservations lady for taking my ZRH-JFK-CLT-IAH and turning it into ZRH-JFK/EWR-CLT-IAH with a full two hours to get to EWR.

I think I will pass this one up and continue to pick and choose when I want overtime and not have someone tell me when I must work overtime without being compensated

Some people just like a title.

Rolov rental car has a great award program. ( We also have a New York Office near the Palisades)

Someone did that in the AYCJ days via RSW, I think.

Howdy, Box!

Aerobics on the street in Mexico City yesterday morning was pretty entertaining. So was eating carne de calle. :D
