I had a former boss Sale's Manager show up to home office while I as on a MR.
Left walking papers on the doorstep

Anyone here ever stayed at either of the Westins attached to the Galleria in Houston? I've been in both, but only in the meeting room areas. Just wondering how the rooms are. I need a few SPG stays, and would prefer to do Westins as much as I can to max out the Amazon.com gift card promo they're running.

Lunch please? In NJ? I have to drive up to CT tomorrow - have to be in Guilford by 5 pm - so I'll be driving through the area anyway and that would be just lovely! :D

I can't stand milk. So I eat my cereal dry and crunchy.

I basically wave the milk over the cereal a couple times before eating it. :)

I can guarantee I won't be buying ELR seats anytime soon (ever). With a 16 month old, I'm not eligible for exit row seating.

What I want to know is what happens when someone pays for ELR and then the FA discovers that the row is populated by a non-English speaker, a 12-year-old, and [insert description of someone else who shouldn't be in the exit row]. Do they get moved? Refund?

BBQ yum! Think I may do that this evening.

That's a good question. I would hope they get a refund or else they would be  at CO. CO should specifically state that you can't purchase ELR seats if you are exempt from sitting in them for one of the reasons listed above.

I agree, though the actual processing of said refund would have to happen post-flight, of course, and I can imagine it would be a huge pain in the  for the FA, CO, and the miscreants alike. And yes, it needs to be painfully clear in the booking process who is and isn't eligible to do this.

The blame-someone-else victimization culture that has risen in this country would lead to the unable person suing for mental distress, demanding an apology, and the head of whatever special interest group representing their problem refusing to fly CO.

Oh yeah, they are also due compensation.

One now needs to agree to a large list of conditions in order to select an exit row seat. I didn't read the fine print, but there is certainly a lot of it in a pop-up box that shows up when such a seat is selected.

The client didn't care that this employee was on vacation, so they asked that my former co-worker communicated the layoff by calling the employee while she was on a beach in Hawaii with her family on her cell phone, and telling her that her position no longer existed, she was getting a severance package, she needed to mail in her office key and access card from Hawaii (unless she had left it at home, in which case they wanted a neighbor or relative with a key to go get it and mail it for her), and that they would pack her things and send the box via UPS to her home address. I've been involved on all ends of layoffs multiple times, and to this day that remains the single worst layoff story I've heard. Even worse than some of the mass conference calls I've seen, or a case where an employee was called at home, she wasn't there, and a voicemail was left with the news.

I once flew from WAS to DEN to lead a week-long course at a client site - my students were all laid-off while I was en route ...
