Wow! Shocking, considering your travel prowess. I have been on both DC-8s, and L10-11s. I remember flying a lot on Eastern FLL-NYC growing up. I don't remember the airports we flew into. I remember flying on National and Braniff as well.

My family growing up was the "once a year to the same place" sort. At least the same place was generally somewhere in Mexico (usually MZT).

As a result, I didn't really get an opportunity to travel regularly until I was under my own steam.

Perhaps you should reciprocate by inviting her to a July 4th Beach Holiday Bash in Sierra Leone?

:D

I did suggest that perhaps she could include me in the planning rather than just expecting me to jump at whatever she put together. After all, I've become pretty good at organizing travel. The response was that she couldn't because mom called her.

I don't mind the vacation on the beach in Florida every year. Wife and I are going to be there at the end of March and again in October assuming everything happens as expected. Adding a 3rd trip - on a holiday weekend that we have historically used for far-flung travel to celebrate our anniversary - just isn't going to happen. I suggested that doing something "big" would get our attention but that just another weekend at the beach wouldn't. Since her idea of a big vacation is a week at the beach apparently I'm an inconsiderate arsehole.

All good points. I found it curious that after I began traveling extensively, my parents then objected to me missing Thanksgiving. Considering we never celebrated Thanksgiving when I was growing up, I found that a bit odd.

I convinced them to have Christmas early this year, so I could make my way to Namibia. :D

Well made it to IAH, near record time from the Stafford office, 5A BP in hand for LAX flight at 5:55
Forgot to print PTY BP while at office-anyone in PC, that could guest me in?

Same here. I'm d@mn lucky to have flown a DC-10. CO retired them less than a month before my one flight on the type. I tried a couple of times to get one before it actually happened.

Got teh DC-10 with UA on ORD-IAD in 1994, and with NW on MSP-AMS a few years back.

The thing is, I may have been in the early 90's. I just don't know if that's what I flew or if it was another type.

I remember fondly the UA DC-8 service...

The DC-8 and L-1011 are the two I regret not flying the most, since both were in active service on domestic routes for enough of my life that I should have been able to get one. Unfortunately, we flew WN and AA more often than anyone else when I was a kid. Had we been a DL family I probably would have been able to get both of those as a kid.

After I turned 20, I think I have missed more thanksgiving and christmas' than I have made....I am going to be sure to make them this year, as a stress reliever.

I was supposed to have an L1011 on ATL-SJU in the late 90s. Aircraft went tech and a 762 was substituted.

When I stepped on the TACA Regional ATR in TGU, that was bad enough. Little did I know what was in store at LCE. :D

That doesn't look too bad. Nicer inside than a Beech 1900D by far.

But it's missing something. Shouldn't there be some blood and bird guts and goo on the side of the plane and all over one of the props?
