Hey folks,
I would appreciate some feedback from teh Box, especially from anyone who has experience with finance in general or with negotiating T&E from the client or vendor side. I have a call tomorrow with a Finance VP at the firm for which we are doing an upcoming roll out. The purpose of this call is to discuss our respective positions on per diem training costs and T&E. Traditionally, we have always charged separately for training and T&E. I am considering a proposal in which we will charge a flat rate per branch based on a sliding scale that takes into account the number of users in the branch and thus the number of trainers needed to cover the branch. This flat rate would include T&E. I think there are three good reasons for them to consider this. 1. I will propose that we will provide remote training for branches with fewer than 19 users. This covers 32 of their branches and thus will reduce their overall spend. 2. It would provide them with cost certainty, i.e. no spike in expenses due to summer fares and room rates, etc. 3. It eliminates the need for their T&E staff to examine and approve what will turn out to be thousands of travel requests and expense reports over the course of a year long roll out. Our Finance person was supposed to be on the call, but he can't make it and I was surprised when he told me to go ahead and not reschedule. When I asked him for his input, his only response was, literally, "Just get them to pay for whatever you can." This indicates to me that our management's position is that they are willing to give away the store in order to get this deal done. In fact, from what I have heard the client has steamrolled us on the licence and technical support side. I'd like to try to avod the threepeat. Sorry, this got longer than I planned. Thanks for reading and for any thoughts or suggestions. :) |

One of my professors was a Jack Russell owner, and his three Jacks were named Moe, Larry and Curly. Kevin Smith, in addition for being known as too fat to fly, is known for having two dogs named Mulder and Scully.
