If you have any questions I may (no guarantees;)) be able to answer them. First thing I would recommend is downloading the free versions of "Advanced Task Killer", "BatteryTime Lite" and "Magic 8 Ball"(:D) from the market. I periodically open Task Killer to kill the applications a few times a day. Droid doesn't close apps so having them all open affects battery life. Second thing I would do is order an extra power cord or two. It's not the standard USB cable.

If you are interested in tethering, pdaNet is a free(http only) app that you can install to access teh interwebs via 3G on your laptop. If you want https, it's $30. I think I'm going to fork over the $30 since I'm not a plat anywhere:o so I have to pay for internet and it'll pay for itself in "2 nights".

Flightstats Lite is also handy. Just go to the Market, click on "Free" and see the top apps, there are some cool things available for free.

I am already panicking at the thought of using this phone. Really, I'm a simple soul. All I want is:

(1) to be able to make/receive phone calls
(2) to be able to get my emails sent to my phone automatically
(3) to be able to get onto the internet quickly and with a clear screen
(4) to be able to sync to my outlook calendar and contacts (not exchange server)


I am googling stuff and it seems like I need to buy an application to be able to sync to my outlook? Is that right?

You can bet your sweet bottom, that is exactly what I shall demand.

I don't think she was really saying she was "entitled", I think she was just tired and stressed and unhappy about having a miserable traveling experience with two children. It also sounds as though she is not a veteran traveler and so was unprepared.
