Like I suggested, the best part is it's done. Off to racquetball so I can burn enough calories to guilt-free finish off the corned beef brisket this evening. ^

Those like myself that believe stupid non seatbelt people should be able to weed out the population on their own, and those that think requiring it is best. :p

They actually started this past September 1st. And I give a big :td: to the law. Common sense should dictate whether you wear a seatbelt, not a law. If you're going to make drivers wear a belt, make motorcyclists wear a helmet if you're sooooo concerned about MY safety.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

oh yea it was Sept 1 wasn't it, I remember it at some point in the last year.

as I said all along, I think it is just a revenue law again, more tickets, more tickets!

I also like the lighter aspects of the banter and fun and games :D

Yep. I've always appreciated how we can strongly disagree on some topics, including things like politics, but still maintain respect for each others' opinions.

It helps tremendously that a good chunk of us have met and mingled offline. That brings a humanity to Teh Box that other places on FT that are known for their unfriendly nature could stand to benefit from.

Every time I have clicked on one of those links, the promised miles have not shown up.

Completely agree.

Also, traveling in emotional situations (OP mentioned it was an unplanned trip as her father had fallen ill) can make things harder for everyone involved.

Good point as well. Knowing that one is going into a bad situation when they step off the plane does influence but does not excuse someone being a tool. The larger question is how well the person under stress handles it.

Ours are Steven and Nero. Steven was the original G network, and Nero is the newer N network. Steven named after me, and Nero after one of our cats. Of course the joke now is that the cat, who can be rather fast and difficult to catch, that the Nero network is fast, and the Steven one is slow.

Yes and no. Here's the thing: for as much as I believe in individual liberty, the majority of society in this era has proven (IMO) that they are incapable of handling the responsibility of personal liberty. That stupidity and irresponsibility has led to the nanny state legal system of today.

I agree fully, however this is exactly why I like my palm webos device.

I knows others with it from age 16-60 and it works for all of them, and without any modifications, however I can go put preware on it and really tech geek it out as well. I haven't tried a NexusOne yet, but I'd take the Pre/PrePlus over a Driod anyday PERSONALLY.
Most of that was due to the lack of the pinch to zoom, if it is really enabled in the new 2.1 ^

however palm did good with the setup and sync process, it 'just works'

Having used the Cliq, Droid, and Nexus One, the Nexus One is, in my opinion, the best of the three. The Motorola devices are very good, but I think the speed of the Nexus One's processor, and increased memory, gives it a big advantage. It also benefits from having the full Android OS feature set, with all the bells and whistles in the baseline OS, as opposed to modifications made by the phone's manufacturer, some of which are fine, and others, not so good. Motorola has also been painfully slow to roll out software updates, as well as to deal with annoying bugs like the Cliq's issue with randomly rebooting when connected to Wi-Fi. I'm also seeing much better battery life on the Nexus One than I did with the Cliq, despite the Nexus technically having a slightly smaller capacity battery.

Pinch to zoom wasn't enabled in the original 2.1 release, but has recently been enabled through updates. It is yet to be seen if the Motorola 2.1 releases will allow it, but hopefully they will. When I unboxed my Nexus the update wasn't on the device, but within an hour it notified me I had an update to install, and after doing the install, there was pinch to zoom in all its glory.

Sure have been a lot of these dinky little 100 mile offers lately. I still do them for both of our accounts though. I'll take every mile they'll give me, even if these aren't worth much.
