Oh dear. You may regret offering your help ....:p I have managed to call VErizon and get it set up, so now it is "my" phone. I now have to figure out how to use it!

I have been playing with it for half an hour and the one thing that I already do not like is the fact that I cannot seem to pinch and zoom like I can on my iTouch. You have to double tap to enlarge, and it doesn't increase in size anywhere near as much as the iTouch does. For someone like me with failing reading eyesight that's a big :td: because it means I have to have my reading glasses on, whereas on the iTouch I can enlarge it up the wazoo. :(

Hopefully updates will come to fix that soon, but not sure, if this is a big issue, the Palm route may be best when you are in your return period (30 days)

That being said, keep it this weekend and give it a legit shot, you may end up liking it!

We talked about the pinch to zoom quite a bit here the last pages, and it is working on the new 'google phone' Nexus One with current updates, but not yet on other models in the US. Droid supports multi touch, it just is not enabled in apps like browser, maps, etc.

I'm on the edge of 2-4" and 8-12". I'm hoping the rain edges a bit more my way.

Westin IAD $69 (Fri & Sat) incl breakfast for 2. Sun-Thurs are $99, which may be worth considering if you need to be in the area given the $100 Amazon GC Westin promo.

Sure have been a lot of these dinky little 100 mile offers lately. I still do them for both of our accounts though. I'll take every mile they'll give me, even if these aren't worth much.

Me too! Every little mile helps!

It also benefits from having the full Android OS feature set, with all the bells and whistles in the baseline OS, as opposed to modifications made by the phone's manufacturer, some of which are fine, and others, not so good. Motorola has also been painfully slow to roll out software updates, as well as to deal with annoying bugs like the Cliq's issue with randomly rebooting when connected to Wi-Fi. I'm also seeing much better battery life on the Nexus One than I did with the Cliq, despite the Nexus technically having a slightly smaller capacity battery.

Pinch to zoom wasn't enabled in the original 2.1 release, but has recently been enabled through updates. It is yet to be seen if the Motorola 2.1 releases will allow it, but hopefully they will. When I unboxed my Nexus the update wasn't on the device, but within an hour it notified me I had an update to install, and after doing the install, there was pinch to zoom in all its glory.

Can I have the Nexus One on Verizon? I googled it and it looks a lot like the Droid in terms of icons, etc.

It is coming, but not there yet, I think 2 months or so it is supposed to come.

It is a lot like it, as it is Android (google's phone os). The 'droid' is just the much hyped motorola branded android phone.

Get well soon, amigo. I've heard beaches and mai tais are generally an effective cure. I'm also not qualified to be a physician, even by the most lax accreditation standards of dubious Caribbean medical schools. :-:

Go to Africa, I am sure you will be accepted as a doctor very quickly somewhere there.

This geography professor (who already postulated that Iceland is not a part of Scandinavia) just pronounced it "El Neeno".

I blew off class last week and came to find that class was CXLD. Looks like last week I picked the right day to sniff glue.
