My 15 1/2 month daughter loves hockey! She is just shouting "haw!" "haw!"

This game just turned weird.

A few quick questions I'd ask myself in your shoes to prep for the call:

What are the clients expecting going into the call (from previous communication, past experience)? How is what you are proposing different (or is it just that you are now communicating the figure)?
What do they gain from your proposal? What do they lose?
What do you gain that makes you willing to do this?

Based on this,
Would it seem fair to you if you were the client? (Can you show him comparative figures?)
What concerns would you have?
How can you alleviate those concerns? - usually it's things that you would never think of doing but the other side fears and just clarifying it upfront helps (e.g., no, we're not upcharging - the cost is actually less for both of us and we're passing the savings onto you to save the headache)

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks Tinkerer! All good questions and points to ponder. As far as past experience with the client, this is our first deal with them so our only experience is in the negotiations on the licence and support side, in which as I indicated, we seem to have rolled over and let them set the terms. My guess is that they will put a team of financial analysts to work doing projections on what I propose. I can definitely show them how they will benefit, so in the end it will probably come down to how big a percent discount they can strong arm out of us.

I think she was just asking for help, and was frustrated, stressed and overwhelmed. Believe me, traveling with infants and small children is not easy, especially if you are on your own.

However, I could be wrong. She could have been a prima donna for all I know. I just want to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Hmmm.. Maybe in about 5 or so years, when you have babies and are traveling, I can come back and say,..... "told ya so...." :p:p:p

I have traveled with mini-humans before, and I agree that it's no party.

Nah, no baseball bat for you. I see your point, and I'm going to re-read the OP.

It would be sad if she's now scared away from FT and this great community since it was her first post.

Interesting if she does get chased off.

USA was lucky on the almost Swiss goal.

Time to go take care of some unfinished business so I can head out of here for the day. Later, Box.

Why I love EWR

Ah, the joys of EWR. I am currently sitting in the PC at CLE since I missed the 2:50 flight out of CLE which was delayed and suppose to leave at 4:30, then 3:50 but was closed up at 3:30, so unless you sit at the gate, you never really know when the flight is boarding. Of course the next flight is a 737-500 with only 8 F seats so that upgrade that I had for the early flight, gone! And of course it is 1.5 hours late so far so the connection to MCO that I booked with a 3 hour gap is now about 40 minutes if they get in late as scheduled. Any later and I get to miss my morning meeting.

What I love is that CO has reduced Wed service from CLE-MCO to one morning flight, with everything else as a connection either via UA through ORD or by EWR. So, it looks like dinner is going to be

It was the same last week. Didn't get into EWR until 9:30 PM and then had to drive to Trenton. By the time I checked into the hotel, it was 11PM, so no dinner that night. I get to do this again next month but I think I will fly into PHL and not worry about the Kenjets. The flight is also around $400 cheaper.

BTW, one thing I really like about the Box is the ability to share perspectives and have a good dialogue ... even when we have very different points of view.

I also like the lighter aspects of the banter and fun and games :D

Thanks all!

I think it went really well.

Then I went to a new employee lunch that my current bank held.

Like Leslie Nielsen in Airplane!, after the plane landed, I just want to wish you good luck, we're all counting on you!

You're welcome :)

I would consider a conversation along the lines of....
Our policy is that clients reimburse us for T&E. However in this particular case given x,y,z we are considering an alternative using historical expenses...let me show you why this would benefit you (and us). Here's the info so you can analyze it and tell us what option you prefer.

That way their analysts can run the projections and if option 2 is really better there should be no real push back (and you've shown them you are already giving them a discount)
