The Anthropology Museum is one of the favorites -- you can spend days there going through the various exhibits. I'd *highly* recommend you rely on airport, "sitio" (radio taxis that you call), or hotel taxis. Do not just flag a taxi down on the street -- it's not worth the safety gamble. Any restaurant/museum/hotel/establishment can call a sitio taxi for you or you could get the phone number for a hotel taxi driver.

I don't mean to be alarmist -- you can be safe in Mexico City as long as you follow basic precautions (most are the same as any big city with transportation/taxis being the one additional caveat). I'd hate to hear of a Boxer-in-trouble ;)

Thanks, Tinkerer. The Box Party Trip on the JFK-PTY-MEX run will be leaving JFK on Sat morning and will be in MEX for about 6-7hrs on Sunday. We already have rooms booked at the airport Hilton for Sat. night (we arrive really late and figured it was easy to stay at the airport). Sounds like the best thing to do is take a sitio cab dowtown, maybe see the museum, grab some lunch, don't drink the water so a stink-shield isn't needed on the way home, do some people watching and then head back to the airport. Whaddya think?

My recollection is that AA and CO have long been pricing differently for PTY in terms of those taxes.

Thanks for the info. Were you 4/4 on upgrades? The weekend of the 2/27 - 2/28 is starting to look full on the PTY-MEX portion and the PTY-JFK is zeroed out in all buckets (but the CM website will still sell me 8 F tix :confused:)
