Greetings from south of Bellingham, WA. The alphabet soup did preclude me from going to the hockey game due to the required check-in time for the train. Still had a good day, even taking the promised photos of me walking around the Winter Olympics in a t-shirt.

Glad to hear it wasn't a total washout. ^

I am feeling better about driving up to Vancouver on Sunday.

One could also do the bus - with the driving, parking, dealing with the border crossing coming back into the U.S., I still think I did OK for $27.50 each way.

Weather was great. The announcements near the B.C. Center about "making sure you're bundled for the weather" were high on the unintentional comedy scale.

TV coverage seemed to back that up.

It was 80 yesterday and today in So Cal, and it looks like tomorrow will be the same. I have no agenda for tomorrow and GF has to work. I feel a relaxing day tomorrow. ^

I am hopeful as well.

Not to mention I missed out on TN snow yet again ;)

Made it to the hotel after quite an experience. My phone only has voice service for some stupid reason. No data means no email means no access to the address of the hotel. A quick call to a buddy in LAX got it for me and a whole lot of "where are you? why? huh?" but I got here.

Oy.

Time to collapse and sleep like a king.

I need to get back to teaching - need to resolve one issue or I won't sleep when I eventually get back to Grand Hyatt SEA.

Data services were down in the BNA area last week - made my life a little more difficult.

Time for me to go to bed so I can effectively sleep in.

Gnite Box

Hello Box....sorry to be away for so long (50+ pages @ 40 posts per page ). The trip home from SYR on Friday was uneventful and quick when I snagged the last seat on an ERJ (window in the back row next to a POS) but at least I was home watching The Daily Show on the DVR with Ms. Gadfly at around the time I would have been getting to Albany on Amtrak.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it but cigarman started a thread in the AA forum about having to pay a $40 departure tax at PTY because his layover was greater than 6 hours. All the MEX MR's include a 10 hour stop so we'll probably all get hit for it.

Regarding MEX, I spoke with my well-traveled aunt the other day and she strongly recommended that one of the best things to do there if you have a few hours and are up for some culture is check out the anthroplogy museum. Here's a link http://www.mna.inah.gob.mx/muna/mna_ing/main.html
MEX has a fantastic subway system from what I hear but I'm not sure if you can get close enough to the museum with it. By taxi it's about 10km and admission is 51 pesos (less than $4.00).

Sorry if I'm posting old news or things that have already been talked about. G'night Box!

ETA: I see that Steph3n noticed cigarman's AA post (thank you search feature). Is it possible this tax was included in the cost of our H-fare tix???

Wow...quite the drama in the "letters to Jeff" thread.

 to the n'th degree.

Did anyone get one of these for Valentine's Day?
