I paid absolutely nothing extra yesterday while transiting PTY. Back in March '08 fozz and I had to buy an entry card for $5 but I didn't even have to do that this time. I just walked through the immigration line, tried to explain that I just wanted some lunch on my layover and then, a few hours later, headed back through security to departure.

uncertaintraveler's opinion in a prior post In Mexico, churros are sweet and traditionally coated with sugar + cinnamon. In some places you can also get them filled with chocolate, cajeta, or condensed milk (think hollow tube in the middle, but not all the way through so that the filling stays in it and doesn't fall out the bottom). Churreria El Moro which is downtown and an institution in Mexico for churros only makes the traditional ones. BTW, if you decide to go, they have 4 types of hot chocolate: Frances (French) - normal with vanilla Especial (Special) - bittersweet chocolate with cinnamon Espaņol (Spanish) - very thick and very sweet Mexicano (Mexican) - neither very sweet nor very strong You can get only churros, only hot chocolate or packages with both (e.g., one hot chocolate and 4 churros) El Moro is a really old churreria (churro maker) which some would say is an institution in Mexico. They now serve meals in the back too, but churros is really their thing (for any meal downtown, I'd go to the Hosteria de Santo Domingo for great Mexican fare or Sanborns - The House of Blue for more international fare). At El Moro, they still make churros fresh (as they should be!) and it's fun to see them make them. They squeeze the batter out of an extruder and turn it in the oil so the dough makes large circles. Once done, they cut them up into long pieces and roll them in sugar and cinnamon. There's a few places that make them this way (more out of your way in Coyoacan and Las Flores), but El Moro is a piece of Mexican tradition and always serves them just-made as they should be. If leaving out on the 13:34 Flights what time would you recommend leaving downtown? For both a Sat and Sun departure.
Does the subway run to the airport? Better to take a radio taxi? Thanks When you call them, just be aware that they'll follow the recommendation to be at the airport 3 hours ahead of time for international flights (which this time of year I would consider a bit excessive, at least for frequent flyers on CO -- I have no experience w/CM). FWIW, the airport cabs I usually use are Sitio 300; phone # 5571-9344 as they have the best info re traffic (esp. if you request a taxi with a two-way radio). Alternatively, have whatever establishment you are at call you a radio taxi ("taxi de sitio") |

I can't speak for the others, but the JW Marriott that Tinkerer references cuesta mucho dinero. I was there last summer, and our corporate rate was US$259/night.
But, if you do have status, their lounge is pretty good, and has a great view over the National Auditorium. For example, the St. Regis had a weekend rate of $120 US avail recently (and it was the most expensive SPG property that weekend). |

You're not the only one (don't know if that makes you feel better or not).
If I'm done before 10 pm tonight (class and rehearsal nonstop with two half-hour breaks) it will be a miracle. |
