On the hotel, if I were you I'd consider actually staying at a hotel closer to that end of the city. On a Sunday morning there likely isn't going to be much traffic, so it's likely not a big deal but my guess is that the hotels are nicer and cheaper in the Polanco/Reforma area (pls double check - I couldn't take a peek to make specific recommendations as I don't know when you're heading down). For example, there's a Sheraton Maria Isabel hotel which usually has good weekend rates and gives Plat's nice upgrades and free breakfast in the Towers lounge. It right on Reforma Avenue and the Angel of Independence (a sight to see in and of itself). In that area, there's several other hotels (e.g., a Camino Real, the Wyndham (I don't know it but sbm does by now), and I think a Fiesta Americana). A few blocks away in Polanco there's a also a row of nice international hotels: Intercontinental, Marriot, W, Nikko. If you do switch hotels, you can also see things on your way to downtown (if you go via Reforma) or on the way to the Anthropology Museum (see post from last night to sbm re Chapultepec Park) which will give you a better taste for the city.

Let me know if there's anything specific you'd want to see and I'll add specific info.

If leaving out on the 13:34 Flights what time would you recommend leaving downtown? For both a Sat and Sun departure.
Does the subway run to the airport?
Better to take a radio taxi?
Thanks

Just another day in paradise.

Looks like today will be a good day for presidential bumps.

Poo. Flight to CLT is delayed. Tried to get moved over to the COEx non-stop but was too slow and they sold the last few seats.

US agent was incredibly nice. So at least I've got that going for me.

Good Morning and Happy Everyone but FT Lurker Haz the Day Off Day!

I'm at work. I like the lack of traffic this morning. I'm hopeing for the same for my return.

Of course not; I was mostly joking about that.

No other FT tags and no one commented on mine. I didn't pay a ton of attention to the other passengers otherwise beyond that I appeared to be in the minority as a gringo on the flights.

Do they clap when you land at PTY and MEX?

I need to do that tonight. It's been over a week because of snow and travel. The two slices of pizza I just had didn't help matters.

Time to get ready to roll. I need to grab lunch for my wife and I and take it to her, swing by Ace and get a paint stick and a couple of smaller brushes, and go by Office Depot to get a dry erase board with hardware that I can hang in my office.

Taxi is 200 pesos - about $15 - and takes 30 minutes. I left at 11:40 and was here in plenty of time to enjoy the lounge before heading to the flight. Get the cab at your hotel. Very easy.

Nope.

Many thanks to Tinkerer for the multiple suggestions and recommendations. My Spanish sucks so getting all of them was a no-go but I did walk along the Place de Reforma this morning for an hour or so and had a great time. Oh, and delicious breakfast at the cart outside my hotel. For about 30 pesos (<$3) I got a soda and two delicious tortilla/meat/cheese combos.

I was just on the phone to my friend (her husband is with Mr.Brit in Vegas) and suggested we get together for take-out dinner with the kids tonight. She was driving and said "Oh, that's a good idea, I'm on the way to the store so why don't I make something instead of take-out".

to which, her twin 14yr old daughters who were riding in the car with her let out a snort of raucous laughter and said "yeah, right Mom" ......

my friend is not known to be the best cook in the world :D:D:D Her husband does all the cooking in their house.
