Concierge Mike, I'm so sorry to hear that, especially coming on the heals of your layoff. My thoughts are with you guys. I know it's tough, but have faith and hang in there and you'll make it!

+1 Wish you the best of luck and a quick find of that perfect job CM!

Congrats on the job! Too bad about the no flying though.

I think the only flying I am doing this coming year is in October to either MHT or LEB. :( Oh well.

Everyone's got spare planes these days. That's what happens when you cut 10% of the service in the country across a couple months.

Makes sense. I wonder who paid for this trip.

Yeah, I had weekdays off when I first started in PHL. Thursday/Friday were my days off. They weren't bad. If I couldn't have weekends off, I would prefer to have off on either Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday. Sorry to read about your fiance. I am sure both of you can land jobs soon, even in this tough economy. What does she do?

Thanks Scott. Remember, I am behind the scenes. The newscast at 9 is where the majority of my work will be scene. My hours will be 2pm-10pm.

Whats with everyone losing their jobs??? My roommate came home tonight and said hes 90% sure he'll be toast by the end of the month (works for a hedge fund that blew up last year and still unwinding). I am not on our lease per his request for some reason but I didnt complain as I figured I could get out whenever. Now hes talking about moving to a lower cost of living state to search for a new job possibly in a different field and wanted to know if I would take over the lease  I dont think so, as we are already getting screwed on our rent to begin with. Any ideas on what I should do? Anyone know what type of recorse the apt has if we give them like a 2 months notice with 5 months left on the lease?

Yikes; that does not sound good. Have you read the lease to see what the penalty is if you leave early? Do you want to take over the lease??? Layoffs have been rough. Mr BLs place did some axing while he was overseas; tough to come back to. I've been at a trade show and while it's a place where jobs come and go; there are a lot of people looking right now. It's pretty eye opening and scary.

Eh, I've been to Rosa a few times in Atlanta. Maybe it's better in NYC, but I wasn't that impressed.

It wasn't bad at all. But not nearly up to the level I'm used to at some of my favorite places in Texas.

The guacamole made table-side was excellent though.

You're correct. It isn't great from a tex-mex perspective. NYC actually doesn't have good tex-mex food. There are crappy, miserable and cheap burrito shops and there is "fancy" Mexican food. Rosa falls into the latter category and is pretty decent for what it is.

What do you think about Dos Caminos ?

I completed my mini-MR yesterday with two IAH-AUS legs. Now I'm silver again. Yay! First time on points, though.

The weather in Houston was increasingly crappy yesterday, and my 2nd flight was delayed on both legs. The incoming plane from Port of Spain (hey, I rhymed! :D) was late and so the IAH-AUS flight left about 30 minutes behind schedule. When we got to AUS, they turned the flight very quickly (I barely had enough time to walk down to Amy's Ice Cream and get a shake). After departure from the gate, however, we did the dreaded 'Newark Shuffle' and sat on the taxiway for 35 minutes before departing. We finally landed at 5pm, which was about 20 minutes late. At that point, the weather in Houston sucked. I probably could have picked a better day for an MR! As it turned out, ssullivan was on a layover and so I got to say hi to him and chat for a few minutes. Always good to see a friendly face! ^

CM, see what happens when you stand under US planes? You get a dark cloud over your head! Sorry to hear, but at least this gives you guys more flexibility.

photog, congrats on landing the job.

Regarding the job market, I know it's rough because I get at least a half dozen unsolicited emails a day with resumes and gentle pleas for jobs. I've never seen anything like this. We're hiring, but not for people that aren't smart enough to look at the job section of our website and figure out I'm most certainly not the right person to be contacting (unless, of course, they already know me).

In other news, after my stripper induced workout fiesta on Sunday I decided for a "light" workout of running then swimming last night. I nearly drowned. :o
